"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church—which is, of course, quite a different thing. These millions can hardly be blamed for hating Catholics because Catholics “adore statues;” because they “put the Blessed Mother on the same level with God;” because they “say indulgence is a permission to commit sin;” because the Pope “is a Fascist;” because the Church “is the defender of Capitalism.” If the Church taught or believed any one of these things, it should be hated, but the fact is that the Church does not believe nor teach any one of them. It follows then that the hatred of the millions is directed against error and not against truth. As a matter of fact, if we Catholics believed all of the untruths and lies which were said against the Church, we probably would hate the Church a thousand times more than they do."

I was catholic and am no longer. Umm...from what I can tell, it's because people like to think their belief/branch is the best sometimes. Most people are mature to understand differences or at least openly talk about them without argument. Catholicism is the only christian branch (as far as I know) that believe that during communion they are eating the body of Christ through transubstantiation. Other beliefs believe it is a representation of the body and blood. *shrugs* People often just don't like things that are different because they don't understand it. Just send them love and continue on your path and where it leads you.

PLEASE, LISTEN!
THIS WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS!
(1) Athiests attack us because they know in their hearts that we have more faith than any other Christian religion. No offense to anyone. That's just fact. Atheists also know that Catholics are not a very violent people, and that we won't do much of anything. You know why we don't? We already know the eternal truth, we have nothing to prove.
(2) Protestants look down on us because they have all these misconceptions about the Catholic faith in general - I.E. - They may think that we "worship the Virgin Mary", etc.
It's simple. I can't stand that fact, but it's just another Cross we have to bear. God Bless.

The Catholic Church teaches a lot of unbiblical doctrines. Many Protestants will not accept these as being "Christian" teachings. Please do not use the word "hate" for disagreement.
If two churches disagree doctrinally, debate and dialogue over the Word may be called for. This type of “iron sharpening iron” (Proverbs 27:17) is beneficial to all. If they disagree on style and form, however, it is fine for them to remain separate. This separation, though, does not lift the responsibility Christians have to love one another (1 John 4:11-12) and ultimately be united as one in Christ (John 17:21-22).

how old are you? i hesitate to answer your question as the answers may shake your religious foundation as it did mine. but, i decided to answer it anyway because i do not wish for you to live in ignorance or to follow doctrine based on false premises.
remember, the roman catholic church is very different from the original church of jesus christ and his apostles.
first off, the so-called catholic church is the most ruthless terrorist to have ever existed. it was the author of the Inquisition (see the first link). it was also the fomentor of unjustified violence in the Crusades (see second link). it also stood aside while the world suffered becuase it believed that if it involved itself actively in world affairs, they would be destroyed. so they allowed nazi germany to fluorish without a word of protest even when millions of jews were murdered (see third link).
or how about the origins of the bible itself? didn't the bible say that nothing is to be added or removed from it? then how come rediscovered ancient manuscripts show missing passages. and who decided which books to be included and not? (see fourth link)
when i was younger, the vatican forbade the study of the bible by non-sectarians or those not "of the cloth."
the vatican's history is rife with coverups, scandals and secrets even at this day and age. like the woman pope (see the fifth link). what are they afraid of? will not truth always win out?
there are other reasons but i will leave that up to you to research on and find out for yourself. after your research, you decide.

I don't know and I don't understand it either.
What I do know is that one of the reasons why I converted to Catholicism was because I found that the Catholics that I met (overall) tended to be some of the most open-minded and tolerant Christians I knew in terms of how they viewed their beliefs vs. other people's beliefs. It is a great religion. It works for me.

I repsect Catholics above all other Christians to be honest. No I don't agree with the doctrine which is why I left, but its the Catholics that I see in the soup kitchens and the protestants taking mission trips to the Bahamas.

The funny thing is i asked as Catholic once whether they get it more from the Fellow Christians or from the Atheists.
After double checking with his group - he replied they get a lot more criticism from their fellow Christians (excluding Eastern Rite/Episcopalian/Orthodox/Oriental Churches).

because its based on greed, and blood.did u know that there is enough money, in money and assets in the vatican too feed the world.well not based on,so to speak, but through out history, they they were warmongers, and evil in the crusades.you chant to god, repitition, and that to me would be like having your kid in the car saying,'are we there yet;are we there"i was raised a lutheran, and we werent much different..did u know we were gunna storm the vatican, and take over?.so dont worry about it,and go freelance like me.Our father doesnt want you to be in an orginisation, and do what they say,e.g.,hmm,the sabbath isnt real convient on saturday,we'll change it to sunday.he wants u to read his book, and do what he says.dont worry, every religion is against each other really, and the point being,Jesus was killed by man, because he tipped the tables over of the CHURCH,and told the preists, and MONEY,bein the key word,to get out,not an orginisation,a chuch of my father,so they killed him.YHWH asks that we do his biding, not the bidding of the mob that killed his son.and thats all churchs, hence religion, that has originised money,do not feed your church with your money.if u want to put your money too a good course, and do gods will, help your neighbour in person',imagine if everybody in the world did that,we would not want.GOD made it so we can live in harmony, but we killed his son before he could tell us how.but while he was alive for that short time,he told us what not to do.One of em was to not form orginiations,a business,hmm,o.k.

Their are hypocrites in every church. And that is where they should be so that maybe the Lord will touch their unclean hearts. But we need to understand that if you believe that Jesus Christ is the living son of God, that he conquered death and rose again, and you have verbalized that to our Heavenly Father and asked for forgiveness, then you are born again and saved forever. You may sin and you may stray from God sometimes, but he will always draw you back eventually.
