There is too much money to be made by governments and leaders and agencies for there ever to be a cure for these ! Even if there were cures it would never be made public and would be guarded as top secret. Do people actually believe there will one day be cures for these??

The majority of the major life threatening diseases 50 years ago are easily curable now. I speak of tuberculosis, typhoid, cholera, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, malaria.
We can effectively treat many of the life threatening diseases of today. I speak of HAART therapy for AIDS (did any of us expect Magic Johnson to be alive and well today?), liver transplantation for cirrhosis, bone marrow transplantation for many hematological malignancies, very effective treatments for many cancers, angioplasty and coronary bypass surgery for heart disease.
I have no doubt than in the next few decades we will find effective treatments or cures for many of the diseases you think of as life threatening today.

You also believe that the oil companies have a engine that will get 100 mpg but won't tell anyone so they can sell more gas? Cures for life threatening diseases are elusive. We are much better at finding ways to prolong life of people with these diseases than in curing them. The most likely source of cures is going to come from DNA studies. People who are exposed to some diseases and do not contract them have some genetic difference that those who do contract them. If we can find and replicate it we may be able to cure it.

Well, yes. Most people are not aware of the huge pharmaceutical complex that controls medicine. And it's true that for example, cancer, has already been cured but big-money medicine does not want it to be revealved. New technology and old ones are discredited.

But think of it this way: If history is any guide, there will always be people innovative enough to find the answer. Diseases like polio, smallpox, etc. that were so scary years ago were controlled with vaccines.
Be optimistic.

people believe in god. It gives them a sense of hope and something to look toward. it is almost like a scapegoat.

kinda seems like you want to rain on someone's parade.

anyways, there is no point to anything in life with the exception to live your life to the fullest, be the best person you can be...and if that means praying; hoping; striving for a cure of sorts, then so be it.

I do understand your point - absolutely. But think about this...100 years from now, all 6 billion of us will be dead and gone - but gone where. Just enjoy you and yours.
