Will braces hurt? and will people make fun of me?

Ok, iam 12 going on 13 on nov. 4, anyways... i have really messed up teeth! I have been going to the dentist ALOT the past month and i have alot more app. this month and the following monthes.......i should be getting my braces on eaither in the last days of noveber, or december or even january. I am really nervous that getting braces will hurt and people will make fun of me! I am really nervous and i need some help and advice about handeling braces and people who would make fun of me! thank you please help me!!

Braces don't hurt, but they can make eating certain things very hard to do.

Telling you "they won't hurt" is not helping you since it is not true. Your teeth will be sore with the braces, but taking something for the pain will help. The soreness is not severe and gets better after a few days.

There are many kids your age that get braces. I have found that many people that don't get braces wish they did. Also, you need to think about what the braces are doing - improving your smile. A little pain now will really pay off with a perfect smile when your done. Good luck, you will be fine.

okay I have braces now. And when you first get them on make sure you take ibuprofen before the appt so it's working than it won't hurt so bad. But the next morning will be bad. And when you go get them tightened they are pretty sore. And I have a word of advice. MOUTHWASH! Mouthwash is my best friend. :) I use listerine. And flossing is pretty hard to do too. They have these flosser things that can go between your teeth with braces. And I didn't get made fun of, I mean a couple of my friends laughed at first but other than that nope I didn't get made fun of.

Well braces hurt a little bit after they put them on and when they tighten them every 6 weeks...

But people will not make fun of you... getting braces is like a stage in a pre-teens life...

im 13 i've had braces for a while no one has made fun of me, getting braces doesn't hurt a lot but they are going to put a bunch of stuff in your mouth don't let it freak you out they'll take it all off after they're done putting your braces on, and later on in your treatment make sure you wear your rubber bands when they give them to you because if you don't you will have braces on for a lot longer than you really need to, trust me I finally started wearing mine and now my braces are coming off

I dont have braces... but i do have spacers and i am getting braces on monday... i did a lot of research on braces and stuff and everyone says the same thing... it will hurt for a couple of days but it will be ovr in no time and it will be so worth it... no one will make fun of u because every1 has braces! :) good luck

maybe for a start, u won't get used to it, but as time passed, u will be able to fit in better. Don't think people will laugh, in fact, there are many people out there wearing braces as an accessories, there are many types of designs available, from simple colors and flowers to even cartoon characters, demand seems to be getting better towards the various types of designs.

Braces are wire that moves your teeth into line. They're not painful, but your teeth will feel funny a few days after they get fitted/adjusted. It's not painful though, it just makes eating certain things a bit difficult.

And you won't be eating whole apples for a while :)

braces dont hurt when you get then they hurt a little later but only for a couple of hours. i got mine the 22 of august this year. three days ago i got mine tighten. it did n't hurt at all. People wont make fun of you they. people love braces and will compliment you a lot.
