When you apply for credit whether or not you get accepted, it is considered an inquire and yes it drops your score. I have heard anywhere from around 2-6 points per inquire so you do not want to inquire alot because it will definitely hurt your score.

Yes every time you run your credit through a lender it drops your score up to 2 points. If you check on your own means a free credit report then you dont have to worry.
Try not to apply credit every where cause these inquires stay on your credit report up to 2 years.

The credit inquiry will show on your credit report but there won't be any indication of a rejection. Your score takes a ding every time a creditor does an inquiry but this is small unless you have a lot of inquiries in a small time frame.

Every query to your credit profile will hurt. That's why they recommend applying only when you really need it and try to wait at least 6 months before you re-apply. Weither you get approved or rejected, I don't think that will make a difference. If you get approved, at least you can start building or re-building your credit score.
