you WILL deploy. where, is anybody's guess. Could be Iraq. Could be Afghanistan. Could be Korea. But you WILL deploy. EVERY job will deploy. and yes, even 'safe' jobs go. paperwork still needs to be filed in the sandbox, and Chaplains still need assistance in the field.

No, you aren't guarenteed to be deployed to iraq, no matter what you mos/afsc is.
46% of the military has never deployed to either Iraq or afghanistan.
But if you do not want to leave your children, then don't enlist.
Because you will deploy somewhere in the world.
There are very few jobs in the military that never deploy.

Join the Army or Marines in a combat unit, and you are almost guaranteed deployment to Iraq. You can check with your recruitment office for the branch you are considering joining and they may be able to provide you the best direction to insure being in a unit that has the potential to be assigned to Iraq. Joining the Air Force or Navy might lessen your chances.

What he says is true. some jobs are less likely to deploy, but all jobs deploy.
What is more important is the Unit. Some units NEVER deploy. and others deploy quite often.

Have you seen that episode of the Simpsons where Homer joins the Army? Upon graduation, I think it was, the sergeant had assignments for everybody which was "FRONT LINE INFRANTRY!!!" I doubt that your sergeant would be yelling at you like that, but you get the picture.

Don't trust you recruiter. They play games to me recruitment quotas. I have had personal experience with this.
If you looking to serve your country does it really matter where you go? Let the wind blow you to where you belong.

If you are afraid of war maybe you shouldn't join the ARMY. If you sign up you are...well signing up to be a soldier and protect this country.

Yes. About a 5% chance of getting maimed physically, 100% chance of being affected in how you think, feel, and remember for the rest of your life.
Imagine everytime you go outside you wonder if you'll be in parts, or executed, just to buy gas, food, or go to work.
Images of a destroyed country, and we don't suffer at all.
Don't enlist until this insane, absurd, immoral administration s gone and we have a government with a valid moral direction.
