I have the worst credit in the world. I can't get a decent car loan, can't buy a new computer, can't even open a checking account. I have had nothing in my name,(no credit of any kind) in about 9 years. I've never had a bankrupcy. Why have these old items not fallen off my credit report? I thought after 7 years things were supposed to stop being reported. What can I do to stop the credit reporting agencies from causing me to be turned down for something as simple as a bank account? It is difficult to not be able to put your money in the bank!

I don't talk to creditors, and don't do anything to reset the clock. I have had no contact with any of these people in all this time. I know putting money in the bank doesn't help my credit (duh!) but I need a checking account to put my money into to pay my bills! I feel that the credit reporting agencies (Equifax especially) are violating my rights by continuing to report things which should be gone by now. I don't even apply for credit. I don't really want to borrow money, but I do feel discriminated against and would like to be treated fairly. I've had bad luck, but I don't deserve to be treated as if I'm a second class citizen.

Often times you have to write letters to credit reporting agencies to make them drop off old debts that are more than seven years old. Check into consumer credit counseling agencies in your area. They are free and they can tell you how to get outdated debts off of your report and help negotiate with debtors to lower any current debts on your report.

Negatives fall of credit reports 7 years and 180 days from the date of default. Paying or the debt being sold does NOT restart the reporting period. If you have older items on your credit report, file a dispute with the credit bureau that the item is beyond the 7 year reporting period.

Keep mind that some items the come from public records, like judgments and liens, stay for 10 years and some of these things can be renewed.

I had the same problems with them always calling and it was so bad that most places wouldn't even take my cash!!!!! It can be fixed!!!!!!!!! Many people out there believe that credit repair is a scam. And, to be honest, there are a lot of scam artists out there posing as credit repair specialists. However, it should be noted that most of the myths about credit repair are perpetuated by the credit reporting agencies. They don't want you challenging what they do because it costs them money. So they will tell you that you don't need to do credit repair or that you can do it yourself. While that is true, it is also true that you can repair your car yourself when it breaks down. However, you take it to a mechanic because you know the mechanic understands engines better than you do.

I KNOW its legitimate i went from a 502 credit score to a 767 in 6 months!!!!!!!!!!!! Best thing i ever did!!!!!

The company i used offered a money back guarantee.

Derogatory accounts should drop off of your credit report 7-years after the date of fist delinquency.

They can not be re-aged this is not legal.

If you have accounts that are past this date, dispute them with the credit reporting agency's and they should be removed.

Have all these old debts been repaid? Many creditors will not remove them until then. After that, you have a right to ask for it to be removed by the credit reporting agency. You will start off fresh with no credit rating at all. You will then have a chance to establish yourself.
