Yes, but only if you have a good set of false teeth, that will unscrew the tight bottle top.

Decent places like the Savoy will supply their own in dainty little bowls, other places bring round the sauces on a circular dish and you choose what you want, at greasy spoons the sauces are on the table, at home you can do exactly what you like ... But what do you do if the food somewhere is really bland? Just ask for something to jazz it up and give it some flavour and taste. But wherever you eat, please thank God first that you have something to eat.

Hi,
I personally don't like labelled sauces on the table if I have invited family & freinds around for a meal. I squirt them into little bowls for the table - same stuff, though.
However, in a "greasy spoon" motoway job, then bottles of ketchup, HP, etc are most acceptable.
I did once smuggle into the Cafe Royale on Regents Street a fine home made horseradish sauce, in a server with clingfilm.
Well it was better than theirs.
Hey Ho.

Don't know about the Savoy, But I know when I'm going to meet friends at a place that I know to serve bland foods, I sneek my little bottle of spicey sauce in my pocket. They think it's funny, and usually must share. The owner wants to know where to buy it. I bring it back from the states in my suitcase.

My old hometown where I grew up has a dirty, dumpy, dive of a bar called the Savoy. Can't say I've seen anyone bring their own sauce.

At a barbecue or your home kitchen table it is okay to use the bottles (extremely informal), but on your dining room table one should place condiments in small serving dishes. One never insults a chef by taking one's own condiments. The chef seasons the dish to the perfect savoring flavor!
