You should get it checked as soon as possible. when mine came on my wheel bearings where going out. ( I drove on it for a few weeks but not long distances to and from work). It could be alot of different things and its safer to get it checked.

It means you don't have anti lock function the brakes should function in a other wise normal fashion. The car should act like a car without abs. The abs is a nice function but not a necessity. We have been driving cars without abs for almost 100 years. Get it checked out you may find out cost of repair is unreal from 150.00 to several thousand dollars,if the car is somewhat new but out of warranty don't be afraid to ask for goodwill help from manufacturer.

The ABS light is on due to a fault in that system. When the light is on the ABS function of your brakes does not work. BUT you still have normal functioning brakes. You car will be able to "lock up the brakes" if you did a panic stop. Basically it's like driving a car that did not come with ABS.

FAQ's I get from My Coustomers about ABS

ABS warnings

My ABS light comes on. What should I do?

When you start your vehicle an ABS indicator light will illuminate on the instrument panel for a few seconds. This is normal.

My ABS light stays on. What should I do?

This means the ABS is not working. However, the conventional braking system is working. I recommend that you take your vehicle to your nearest dealer for servicing as soon as possible.

My ABS light and my brake warning light both stay on. What should I do?

DO NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE! You have no brakes. Have it towed to your nearest dealer or ASE cirtified Tecnision.

Yes because the brake function just returns to standard brakes without the anti wheel lock up feature (ABS). However, you of course may not have the ABS ability to be able to steer the car when your in an emergency stop and your wheels lock up and start skidding on wet pavement for example.

you can drive it,but it would really be a good idea to have it scanned and see what made it come on,there's several things that can be wrong with it,without having the computer scanned on it you will not ever know what actually set the light off,it may become unsafe to drive if its a major problem with it,have it checked to be sure, good luck with it.

Need more info to answer this one, it might just be a blown out tail light bulb causing this. We had the same warning light come on in our 95 Olds Cutlass Ceiara...Just a tail light out. Have someone take a look for you when you press the brake pedal. Replace anyone that might not be working.

YES AND NO......................

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

Yes you reverted back to "normal" brakes and you are safe to drive. Beyond that I will not give advice except to get a mech. to look into it. It should not cause damage to anything so don't let a mech. scare you into an emergency, your gonna die repair. If you do, look somewhere else.

Yes, from you home to the garage to get it checked out. ABS is not something you want to take any risks with.
