There aren't any heroes anymore. The "stars" of the sport are not what they used to be. The ones who have any personality at all have bad ones. I can't pull for anybody! I used to love the sport, but with the crop of jerks they have now, I just can't watch it. I hate to see either of the Bush brothers have any success at all. They are horrible people. Tony Stewart is an insufferable cry-baby-spoiled-brat. Everybody hates that moron Robbie Gordon. Juan Pablo Montoya flipped off his in-car camera!! Then waved at it as if to say "oops!".What an idiot! How does anybody find a driver to pull for in this era when the "good old boys" are either dead or retired?

"Good old boys" is not my term, I merely used it for reference. I'm just saying these guys today are no fun to pull for. It's ridiculous to see them playing like tough guys, fighting with their helmets on, throwing helmets at each other. Maybe it's the nature of the sport, but it used to be more fun.

The age of the Allisons-Waltrip-Petty-Yarborough-Turner-Jarrett-Derringer are his tory.Today the majority of NASCAR drivers are GQ Glamor boys, now don't get me wrong they can drive but they were not brought up building their own cars, hauling their own cars and repairing their own. They have this thrust upon them.
I remember Bobby Allison building a "Grand National car" and testing it between races at Birmingham International Raceway to take it to an event the following week.No big fancy team just him, brother Eddie and a handful of local wrench turners.
Today a car doesn't go out of a shop unless it has been hooked to a dozen machines.
But the drivers were a different breed. Then drivers would sit and sign autographs after a race, not just 15 or 20 minutes but for a couple of hours.Today if you don't have a ticket or a number tough crap you don't get into the autograph session.(On of the reasons I am not a fan of 5 or 6 drivers today).
Today there are about 3 or 4 drivers that are throw backs to the 60's or 70's and I will pull for them, but as for the new drivers they need to drop the GQ and get a personnallity.

Basically, every single race between the Coca Cola 600 and the late summer race at Bristol. Pocono is fun to watch and Michigan's been pretty unpredictable with its fuel mileage endings, the road races always bring a refreshing change of pace, everyone on here is right about Daytona being a much anticipated event (especially with Jr. running the #3), and New Hampshire and Chicagoland can be great races when there are multiple double-file restarts near the end. I think the weakest race on this list IMO is Indianapolis, but then it's Indy, one of the most prestigious tracks in the world. Oh, and did I mention Bristol and the 600?

Which "good old boys" are you referring to?
"The Intimidator" who was responsible for more than his share of wrecks?
"Jaws" who has been known to crash others out of races and who said that he could say whatever he wanted about Dale and his team in the news because they "wouldn't be able to read it anyway."?
How about Cale Yarborough and the Allisons and the infield fistfight?
About the only "good old boy" who could be considered "not a jerk" would be The King.

please don't use Y/A for your emotional dumping ground. Your opinion and outlook is so weak, you should take up knitting classes or something. When was the last time you had a little blood and grease on your hands?
