but it does change them and makes a difference example the legal immigrants have already proven them selves better than a common criminal just by doing it the right way. The illegals have proven themselves common criminals and have already broken the law and done it the easy way therefore lazy too.
the difference is legal = trying to improve to others standards
illegal = rather than work to better yourself try to bring all those around you down so you don't have to work up to their level
two completely different people

If you're legal, it tells most Americans that you really want to be here, not somewhere else, that this is the better place, that you believe in what this country stands for, that you respect the people and the laws of this country. No, a piece of paper doesn't change their origins. But it does say that a person wants a better life and get it legally. It says you're willing to obey laws, not be a pervert, drug pusher, etc. Most immigrants will not fit in if they don't live the way most Americans live. It's good to preserve traditions, etc. Bust it is not good to continue as if you are living in the country you just came from. Immigrants coming here need to learn the english language and observe our national holidays and obey our laws. They need to stop acting as if they are living in another place. the U.S.A has a completely different set of holidays, laws, traditions, etc. Most legal citizens (if they were to think about) will be fine with any immigrants as long as the immigrants can show and give us the respect we deserve and obey our laws.
ALL of our families have come to the U.S. the hard way. Most of our families did it the legal way.
We only want other immigrants to do it the legal way too.

America was built on immigration! What the bleep! The only real Americans are the Native ones! A six grader could tell me the same! Tell your friend that if he isn't pure Native American, he's probably a descendant from an immigrant him/herself! It doesn't matter if we fit in or not, we have a right to live here! And just because someones culture is different, doesn't mean that it's backward, He/She makes me sick!

Nope....not as long as we get rid of disgusting bigots that base their criterion on the racist view of the dicotomy "immigrant" versus "non immigrant"..... and pÃeces of paper..... (a certificate of birth is an example)...
All american minorities, including the askers, were legal or ilegal aliens in this country....so....who is the immigrant here???

Your friend may have to go live on an isolated island somewhere because people are different. If he even dislikes his own family because of their differences he is truly ignorant. They may not "fit in' to him, but has he ever considered that people may dislike him for his narrow minded views and trying to "force" his beliefs on others?

Absolutely not. Foreign cultures ar not "backwards", they are just different. Legal immigrants are not doing you any harm. And just because they are different from people who are born here and "never truly fit in" does not mean they are disgusting. At any rate, you are in no position to talk unless you're a Native American. If you arer not a Native American, then you are descended from immigrants. I guess your ancestors must have been disgusting. You and your friend sound like a pair of racist morons and I hope both of you go to prison.

This is the year 2007. Every country has immigration laws. Every country enforces them. PERIOD.
Illegal aliens do NOT have the right to live where they please.
The only right they have if they are in a country illegally is the right to be deported humanely!!!!!

I think that a person who follows laws, pays fees, goes through medical screening, and waits for years in order to be legitimate is a different caliber of person than one who blatantly disrespects laws.
Look at citizens - aren't the ones who dutifully pay taxes every year usually a better sort than the ones that evade them?
