The global warming can be only perceived as a problem if you think that it is man made. If its not then there is nothing to be done. The earth will take care of itself like it has been doing for the last 4 billion years. Global problems in the form of Global Warming are mainly myths. Who cares wether CO2 increases or not. There is only a very small amount of it in our atmosphere. The ratio breakdown is 1 in 38,000 to that of air. The ozone is created by the bombardment of the solar wind by the sun in our upper ionosphere. And the loss of it is probably to do with the sun spot activity.

Global Warming is such an important problem because it's affecting our Earth which also affects us. We are the reason why it started because of all the things that man has invented such as: power plants, cars, etc. Even though most of the things are helpful with every day duties, they contribute carbon dioxide which makes it bad for our atmosphere and makes the glaciers melt. I also believe that if we don't do something now, our Earth as we know it could be gone in a matter of years.

Global warming is a progressive warming up of earyh's surface.
EFFECT ON AGRICULTURE AND FORESTY
High CO2 level in yhe atmosphere have long-term negative effects on crop production and forest growth.More grain belts would become less productive. As climatic pattern shifts rain is reduced and soils are dried out resulting in major drought.
EFFECT ON SEA LEVEL
As a result of glacial melting and thermal expansion of ocean , a 20cm rise is expected in sea level by 2030.
EFFECT ON WATER RESOURCES
Global rainfall patterns will change and the water management strategies of different regions will need to adapt to these changes.Drought and floods will become more common, while rising temperature will increase domestic water demand.
EFFORT ON TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS
Many plant and animal specis will have problems adapting. This will influence the mix of species at different locations. Many will be at risk from extinction, whereas more tolerent varieties will thrive.
EFFECT ON HUMAN HEALTH
As the earth becomes warmer, the floods and droughts become more frequent. There would be increase in water bone diseases, infectioos diseases carried by mosquitoes and other diseases vectors. The climate change might cause some ecosystens to exceed critical thresholds and result in irreversible decline.

Global Warming is the change of weather patterns, temperature and other natural phenomena. Man is devastating the nature of the world by anti-environmental means. Pollutants, Increase in sea level and in Temperature, higher frequency of occurrences of natural calamities. It is an important problem because Man ignores the significance of global biodiversity. How can we survive if we don't take action and change? We have to realize that we are the products of creation of God. We are not here to have a mass environmental genocide. Every person in this globe must have a initiative to abandon Fossil Fuels. The Scientists must find alternative pathways to promote pro-environmental life. The conditions of the biomes and ecosystems are changing. The polar Ice caps are melting fast. Pls. Segregate your waste, save electricity and recycle. We are destroying the setting of Mother Nature. Mass extinction is not and will not be a option. We should do our roles to save our planet from a Venus-like world. It has tested the limits of survival in all life forms. If you want to know more, watch "inconvenient truth" an Documentary of Al Gore.

There are a lot of reasons. I'll give you one example--but keep in mind that htere's a lot more (but I don't think you want a 10 page answer!).
If global warming continues unchecked, we will see a pattern of coastal flooding that will start becoming serious in a few years--and continue to get worse for decades. This is going to mean the loss of any low-lying coastal areas. Now--take a look at places like Florida--or the coastal plains of Bangladesh. In the case of Florida, you have several million people living in those areas--not to mention the enormouus investmet that cities like Miami represent. In Bangladesh, those coastal plains feed about 50-100 million people, besides the millions that live there.
Now take that away--submerge it underwater. You have an economic loss in the Hundreds of billions. You have the loss of a major agricultural region and the food it produces. And you have millions of refugees that must find new places to live, jobs, etc.
Now look at a map of the world. see how SMALL a portion of the coastal areas of the world the tdwo places I've talked about are. So--multiply this scenario by many times. The estimates currently tell us that by 2050 the world will have about 150 MILLION refugees at any given time--with new ones replacing those who find new homes for a period of decades.
Again--this is just ONE of the problems we are going to have to deal with if we don't address the global warming issue. It may not even be the worst one.

Open your eyes this is a natural cycle ck out the Minnie ice age, and all the ones before it all fallowed by your global warming . ice melts , rain comes down , water tables rise ,ground water levels rise , its the way its to be . did you know 5 years a go the aquifers in L.A and T.X where at a danger , and know after some of what you call bad Storm thy are in better shape all due to the dreadful global warming you are scared about

The general lines of thought follow the thinking of Pascal's wager. Even if the probability of a negative outcome is near zero, if the potential outcome itself is sufficiently negative, it may be desireable to act to prevent that negative outcome even when considering the cost of action.
Re: answers that claim more storms and weather extremes.
Please recall from your elementary school science class that colliding warm/cold fronts cause storms. The GREATER the temperature difference, the greater the potential for storms and the greater violence of the storms.
While disagreeing on the probability or possibility of the "if," global warming believers and deniers tend to agree that IF global warming occurs:
1) the poles warm more than the tropics
2) the winters warm more than the summers
3) the nights warm more than the days
Every one of these changes results in LESS temperature difference, therefore fewer and less severe storms.

Well, for starters, it causes more extreme weather. People can die during floods, hurricanes and the like. Further, weather extremes will make it hard to grow food. Eventually there will be food shortages.
Then there is the melting of the ice caps, which will flood areas where people now live, changing landforms. This will change the level of salt in the water. The salt levels, along with heat, cause the circulation of our ocean water, which affects the weather world wide. This is called "Thermohaline circulation." This could cause a devastating climate change for our planet, and because we can't know exactly what that could mean, it may mean that our planet will not be able to support life. Even if it doesn't mean this, I think our world will not be a nice place to live anymore.

Well, ignoring the doom-sayers(above^), who are either proclaiming the worst case scenarios, or just plain stupid ones.
There could be some shifts in weather patterns long term.
This means we will have to adjust and compensate for them.
Maybe for some of us, our lifestyles will have to change, by how much, we don't know.
It's an important problem because some of us don't want to change our habits, especially those in power.

Have you been reading the newspapers?
Well here's a whole list of websites to read, but generally what problems does it cause?
- Rise in temperature
- Hotter weather
- Melting glaciers
- Increase in sea level
- Floods
one of the many things.
you know, some polar bears die while swimming because they can't find a glacier to rest on - they've all melted. So they're so tired, they eventually spend their last strength swimming, looking for just a single piece of ice but can't find one, in the end they become so weak they drown. Can you imagine that?
