why r they good for u?

They contain protein and roughage - they're good. The sauce contains sugar - that's not so good.

There are no good foods or bad foods only well balanced and badly balanced diets. Eating beans all the time is not a good idea.

Beans are a source of protein. So that makes them good for you, however most baked beans have a lot of sugar added along with bacon and that is not so healthy. I say a little of everything in moderation is a healthy diet.

beans in general are good for you. it depends on the baked beans as far as healthy. Some of them have a lot of sugar.

baked beans actually have too much sugar in them to qualify as a serving of beans/lentils/protein on teh food pyramid..
due to high sugar content, they qualify as "eat sparingly" at the top of the pyramid.
1 teaspoon of sugar is about 4 grams.. so look at a can of baked beans: How many grams of sugar per 1/2 cup serving?
now divide by 4= number of teaspoons of sugar in that 1/2 cup....
It is more of a dessert by these numbers.

They have protein and high fiber which is very good. I put a lot of onion and garlic in mine so that's good too. Instead of so much brown sugar I use brown sugar Twin and just a touch of the real thing.

They are better for you if you make them from scratch (home made ) that way you can control the amount of bacon or fat in them and the amount of sugar . They are a good source of protein but high in fat and sugar so if you are dieting i wouldnt recommend them. And be aware of portion control. But if you dont need to worry about the amount of sugar or fat then by all means enjoy them .
