I was in a boxing gym and I had to spar with this guy who was going professinail in two years and signed a 7 figure contract also but his not old enough to fight just yet. Anyways when the bell rung for the first 30 seconds i was winning coming at him with all i got and i backed away because i got tired . Then he punched me in my chest uppercuted and a good shot in my eye and everything was blurry. I just keep my guard up and tried to throw some punches but he was way to fast and he was really a good dodger so i could not him him. Anyways he landed about 50 good punches on me and was just tagging me and i was ready to go downn but i have to much heart just to get knocked down so i backed up and charged at him like we were wressling and put him agaist the ropes and punched him he got out and punched me in my eye and the bell rung. And we went to our corner 60 seconds latter he was tagging me punch after punch i was woosy but i had to much guts to go down i just started swinging hoping

I am sure he was taking it easy on you (if this story were true, I have my doubts) but next time tell him.... I would like to see if you can knock me out, because I think I am way too tuff to be knocked out.... then come back and tell us what you can remember about it...

As the answerer above stated, it has little to do with guts and nuts. These will help you say on when others would quit, but knock outs are real and no amount of willpower will stop them from happening. If yo had been hit just right, you would have gone down. It's not about willpower then, it's about biology and physics.
When a solid punch lands, a boxer's head is thrown backwards, sideways, or a combination of both. The brain is held by soft tissues inside the skull. A blow that is violent enough will send the brain crashing against the side of the skull. If the blow is violent enough, certain conscious brain functions will shut down. Very hard blows (such as in a car crash) may induce a coma. If you had been hit with the proper punch at the proper time, you would have gone down whether you wanted to or not.

Yes this has happened on quite a few occassions but perhaps the most famous one is the fight between Jack Dempsey and Luis Firpo in 1923 in the Polo Grounds in New York. Dempsey had floored the big Argentinian a total of 7 times in 2 rounds finally knocking him out. But Firpo did knock Jack down twice, one time sending him out of the ring tables. He did climb back into the ring with some help from the press guys and on to the victory.

first of all-well done for going into the ring in the first place-there are too many who can't "walk the talk"-obviously you do not fit into this category. secondly as any fighter knows the first thing to do is to suss out your opponent-is he an attacking fighter or a defensive one ?-is he fit ?-does he have ring experience? all this will be caculated in the first 60 seconds of a bout by a trained fighter. what he did with you was one of the oldest tricks in the game-he tired you out-then when you were tired he just stung you at his lesiure. we must remember that not only does physical stress tire us out-but adrenalin does also. learn by the experience learn off your opponent-ask???-may you have much success in your journey. in answer to your question when we are struck on the point of the chin for instance this snaps back the head causing what we call "brainshake"-this is to say the brain is rattled around the inside of the skull-when this happens the brains defences go into action and the motor senses are shut down-unconciousness-this is the brains way of recovery-contrary to poular beleif but it is not better to have a hard jaw in boxing because if it takes a whack the power is transmitted straight to the skull-to have a softer jaw is better as this goes someway to absorbing the impact.

sounds like you fought a batam weight teenager. He hit you alot but couldnt finish you. Young guys get stronger very quickly as they grow into their own. I say try him again in 2 whens he is an adult...you just might be knocked out the next time. I dont care how much guts you have. You get hit at the right time in the right place your going down whether you like it or not.

Sounds like your tough and plenty of heart and guts but one good blow to the head will do it. Nothing you can do about it.
