The Japanese were (and are) technical innovators of the automotive world, so importing a used Japanese car just carries the passion forward to get something that's looks good and drives well.
As far as importing is concerned, I've found these sites more useful and direct for buying/selling specifics and importing authentic car parts at the right price:
Japanese Car Import - http://japanesecarimport.pinurl.com
Japanese Car Parts - http://japanesecarparts.pinurl.com
It might seem tough at first, but if you focus on the specifics - used car import procedures, import regulations (age of the vehicle / emission norms) and money transfer methods (usually wire transfer) - you should do fine.

Most important is get a DOT and EPA release for the car you want. Right hand drive cars are really scary to pass slow traffic with. After Thousands of dollars and emission controls then testing guard beams in the doors different head lights bumpers. There is nice cars over there but actually we have just as nice cars here already for modification.

It is possible, but it is a lot of work to get around the regulations in the US.
You'll likely need to contact an exporter within Japan to organize all the paper work and shipping for you. Then do the domestic compliance work yourself or get an agent or car shop to do it.

Be very aware of importing cars. Most links you find are SCAMS.
Better off finding a foreign car locally and purchasing it.
