I had answered questions similar to these and I am giving the same answer all the time.

Drinking alcohol actually doesn't lessen the effects of the antibiotics such as amoxicillin. However, alcohol could lower the general energy of your body and delay your recovery so it would be at your best interest to minimize drinking until you've finished the prescribed course of your antibiotic treatment.

Another nasty thing hat can happen is due to the fact that alcohol generally intensifies the side effects of a lot of antibiotics as well as with other medications. The side effects mostly intensified are dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. These are generally considered not the "fun" aspects of drinking.

A glass or two probably will be fine. Be aware also that excessive alcohol consumption can affect the metabolism and increase the toxicity of antibiotics which could cause a liver damage.

The best option would be to abstain from alcohol while on antibiotics. Take care of yourself and keep your liver healthy!

It depends on which type of alcohol you plan on drinking!

I would not advise a neat spirit - it would probably just knock the antibiotic out! But a whiskey and soda or gin and tonic or similar would be okay.

You should be able to have a normal bitter or stout without any problems if you are a beer drinker - but avoid a 'live' beer! The amoxicillin will work on the yeast of the beer - and not sort out what you are taking it for.

What I will say is that while there shouldn't be a problem with your alcohol intake and the antibiotic, it is probably a good idea to avoid such things as cheese, milk and live yogurt - they will take up the time of the antibiotic!

Oh, and lastly, it is probably a good idea to mention that Amoxicillin can cause short term bowel problems best referred to here as 'Squitters.' - I am sure that you know what I mean! Nasty tummy ache - and then all hell lets loose! but it is short term and you should feel well very soon.

Yes you can, but it affects the way your body deals with alcohol, so you get drunk a lot quicker. So moderation is the wise stance here.

And anyways, I can't tell you from experience, but that's what I've heard.......I'm allergic to penicillin. Fun..........not
