After Hurricane Katrina, the US citizens would get the roofing job, then contract them out to Illegals to do the work, why because these people were making about $3000.00 per house using Illegals I watxhed, I called immigration, I called the BBC
They are still being picked up and the discount lumber yard, A friend of my told me he was paying $300.00 a day to US citizens to rip out houses they worked 2 -3 day and quit, he did not want to hirer illegals and gave the contract back to the government

Very few.

An NBC report from last year had a farmer saying, "I have crops here that need to be picked and I can't get Americans to do it not even if I offer $20 per hour." Now I think he was exaggerating a little, but not that much.

With the crack down on illegal Hispanic aliens we are shooting ourselves in our own economic foot. We had crops in California and Florida rot on the vine, the tree, and in the field because we simply couldn't get anyone to pick them. It is going to happen this year and next year and until the Democrats get into office and find a solution.

President Bush has done little that I support, but the one thing I do like is that he wants to institute a liberal green card program. If we let the aliens in to do the work then they can stay for the season and go back home. Sure a lot of their money goes overseas and out of our economy, but it gets the work done that we need done for a cheaper price than we can do it now. Scientists are working on robots to handle the job, but even if they create a robot able to handle the delectate work, and decide which crops are mature enough to pick and to immature or spoiled then they need to get it into production and make it cheap enough to be purchased by farmers. Farming is not a huge profit making enterprise. We desire our food to be cheap, we need that to drive our economy and that means that farming will never make a huge amount of money so their isn't a lot of demand for those robots.

Meanwhile we see thinks like orange and lettuce prices rising because no one can pick the crops. The government subsidies to create ethanol have created an increase in the price of corn and corn feed which has made the price of beef and milk go up. Some ranchers can't afford the higher payments they sacrifice their cattle to make the payments and so reduce future profits and get near the edge of extinction (going out of business and going broke, losing the farm or ranch to the bank to be bought by no one who wants to use the land for farming).

The US is the breadbasket for the world so when the price of our food increases eventually this is going to hit the entire world causing that evil economic condition of inflation. It will hit us first and it is one reason why the American dollar is performing so poorly against the money from other nations.

The excuse that we need to close our borders to illegal came out of a desire for National Defense, but it has turned into one of prejudice toward Hispanics and an actual persecution against them. A local Hispanic group in my area threatened a strike because the police were deporting Hispanics whenever they were caught even in minor traffic stops.

Several times cities have called the Immigration Commission Enforcement (ICE) to come in and clean out their illegal population. Then a month later after pressure from the business community, failing businesses, and rising prices the same government asked the ICE officials to stop their crack down. This situation isn’t just true in the southwestern states, but nation wide; as far as New York City.

The minority situation is changing in the US and blacks are no longer the largest minority and in a few years whites will be a minority. Some people can’t handle this and so they rebel and crack down on the Hispanics and do their best to make the climate unhealthy for them and to try and remove them. Granted I don’t like people illegally crossing our border and using our tax paid services without paying taxes themselves. A liberal green card program will change that and then the border service can concentrate on the drug traffic and possible terrorist activity, instead of poor family members who come to the US to eke out a meager living.

One thing that has been true since the invention of agriculture; it is a manpower intensive task and if you want to keep your food prices reasonable you need to find a class of citizens willing to do the work. In the past slaves did a lot of this. In the Middle Ages the Feudal System locked the peasants to the land, they needed permission of their lord to move. These people where treated no better than slaves and the Catholic Church was used to keep them in line. They said that the rulers were divine beings appointed by God and that going against them was a sin, and then they offered the promise of heaven IF you behaved like a good person and toiled away in the fields. This made the church very strong and gave it much power, power that it has been steadily losing and so it has become quite reactionary against this. It also promoted the common myth that after you die you will go to heaven. However, according to the Bible that doesn’t happen. When Judgment day comes the dead will rise from their graves to fight the final battle against the Anti-Christ and the forces of evil then the winners and presumably the survivors will get to go to heaven. If you are a Christian than according to the Bible you will die and rot in the ground waiting the final battle and you will only be rewarded with heaven IF you win that battle and survive it and do well in it. Your behavior in life will determine which side you fight on and we assume the evil side will lose, but even that isn’t a sure thing. The church has used the threat of hell and the offer of heaven to lie, cheat, steal and blind the population to work their will.

Some of my family actually do it in the next state. I suppose if I lived in there area I would do it too. I use to do it when I was a teenager when I spent summers up there.

Americans will do those jobs, the problem is a lot of the companies that own the farms won't hire Americans and legal residents because they would have to pay the minimum wage and workmans comp.

Illegals don't get minimum wage and if they get hurt, they are fired. So it is a lot cheaper for them.

Decent wages for the job being done. Oh he/she again with the farms. Do you work on a farm yourself. How is the less than 10% of farm hands being illegal helping. It is not. These farmers would expect to pay the same as the other 90% of the farmers do!

What happened to your claim that there are no "18-25 yr. old US citizens standing in line to pick the crops, frame houses, pour concrete & roofing working". Decided to stick with the agriculture argument? What about those working in other fields of work as the ones you mentioned above?

Deport them all. Illegal is illegal.

All countries have immigration laws. All countries enforce them. Period.

I will, and I have. We have a lot of resources to utilize other then illegal labor. Also may I point out that the cheap illegal labor has been proven to not effect the price of the final product.

The ones who have waited in line for YEARS to come here LEGALLY for work would LOVE to do those jobs TOO. Think about how many we COULD let in LEGALLY if the JOBS, and HOMES, and EDUCATION FUNDS and whatever else were not tied up in the ILLEGALS.

Oh, and I would do these jobs if I needed to. Not all Americans(not even close to all) are lazy and wanting to "suck off the government". But sometimes those jobs don't want to pay what it is truly worth.

Americans of all colors and races are lined up looking for jobs..The question is, how many Americans can afford to do work for $6 an hour...The illegals are driving down wedges.

Nationwide, only 20-25% of those employed in agriculture are illegal aliens.

So what does that tell you? ..The rest are filled by LEGAL immigrants and U.S. citizens.
