Maybe-more importantly we(answerers) would have opened up new thoughts n ideas for them-this gives them(questioners as well as answerers) a sense of accomplishment.

Yes. Never make your questions and answers private so:
1) people can check out your personality, and see if they relate or not. More often than not I see a pretty avatar or provocative picture with a blocked profile, and it really suggests "stuck up" or needy attention behavior. Open up to us. The trolls are winning if you hide.

2) people can more easily vote on your unresolved answers and questions as they get to know you.
