"Yes" Not what you think. I was a Navy corpsman attached to the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif. I was farmed out to a reckless bunch doing a night fire in some remote section of the base when all of a sudden a fire broke out. I have never witnessed a fire spread so fast in my life. I was napping (sort of) in the jeep when it went up and woke up to a Staff Sargent on fire. I put him out quickly and we escaped the only direction we could. My jeep went up in flames, there was no where to run, we were trapped. The Staff turned to me and with the most pitiful look on his face asked if we were going to die. I honestly couldn't see any route of escape and the flames were at least 20 feet high, no time to bury ourselves. I just lowered my head and said "yes". Then proceeded to tear up (must have been the ash's). We were saved by the fire department with seconds to spare, but, that moment of sure and swift death was the hardest thing to witness.

"I'm not ready for you to die," to my mother, "but I will let you go because it is what you want." This was when my mother decided that she did not want to do anything to stop her cancer. I knew I could not make that decision for her as badly as I wanted her to try and to live. I had a lump in my throat like never before. Letting go of someone we love is often the hardest thing to do.

That I wanted a break up, from my last boyfriend. He seemed to take it quite well but then I discovered the truth and felt really bad for hurting him.

"I will do what you want but don't ask me to like it."

Luckily the person changed their mind and said:

"I don't think I could ever be as cold hearted as you."

She was right.

"yes"-- the moment my ex girlfriend told me she is going to end our marvelous relationship we had! I simply could NOT accept that her love for me vanished for good, so I simply could not say "okay, yes, it's over"....that was so sad and depressing and extremely hurtfully.
