no,it's a very bad idea.

It is a very good idea.

The procedure is simple and normally done in day surgery or outpatient. You would be up and about, and able to continue your daily routine after a short rest of 2 hours or less.

As compared to the wife having to "tie/cut her tubes", she need to undergo a more difficult procedure and require much more time to recover.

After the procedure, neither you nor your partner need to use any contraceptive methods.

The procedure is not reversible.

So do it only after much thoughts & if you are sure that you have achieved the desired family size.

Note:
1) Although you no longer could impregnate a woman. You are not protected against STD.

2) Some guys report a lowered libido after vasectomy is done.

3) The experts say that the lowered libido is psychological with no physiological reasons

A vasectomy is the cheapest birth control ever invented.

It was the best choice I ever made. I had one when I was 21, just before I turned 22. I am now 41, and still relish in the novelty of my choice, even though I know a lot of men that did the same.

No I never had children, and I am very proud of that fact.

If you have a vasectomy it may not be always reversible. You will also have no STD protection and you may have post-vasectomy pain which affects about 33% of those who have a vasectomy. I think you should use contraceptives instead of vasectomy. It's your choice.

It depends to be honest how old you are, whether you really don't want to have children, or have completed the family you have. You will still have to take precautions with sexual partners as you will need to protect against diseases, so it may ease one part of the worry about intercourse but there is still that. It doesn't affect your ability to perform my ex had a Vasectomy, it was suitable for him as we had completed our family and I had been taking the contraceptive for years.

Your docter will discuss the whole thing with you and make sure you are absolutely certain before putting you through, if I had not agreed to my ex having one, he would have been referred to a second docter to confirm whether the two docs felt it was ok for him.

If you have made your mind up to not have children your doctor may perform it for you. Don't be too Hasty as the reversal of a vasectomy is not always successful, the success rate is very low.

If you never want to have any(more) children and are absolutely sure you will never change your mind; then yes.
But there is nothing more certain than uncertainty...
