Wish I knew their culture better. My great- great grandmother was on the trail of tears. She survived. But all the culture has been lost. Sad, to not know about a part of who you are. I have always felt a special kinship. Crazy though it may sound.
Not many Native Indians, around where I am at. Or at least that I know about.

They were treated cruelly. I have a few Native American Indian friends who are fine people.

the lives of native americans varies from tribe to tribe, and region to region...one thing remains constant, though-our government treats them like second-class citizens.
another thing i've noticed is that very few people have even a basic understanding of native american history and culture. what most people 'know', they 'learned' from hollywood.
i've come to have a deeper appreciation of native people as a result of marrying a native woman and getting to know the people in her tribe and thru pow-wows. i have met some of the nicest, most honest, generous, hard-working, patriotic, loving, and spiritual people i have ever known.

I don't think of any race "in general" because each person is an individual and should be recognized as so.
