I am thinking of taking up DJing, but unfortunately know nothing about it. So firstly, which is best; vinyl or CD? What would be a good set to get? I have a £200 budget, might be able to stretch to £250, and am interested in all music but would hopefully be mixing DnB etc. Remember I have no experience in DJing.

Thanks a lot!

Definately vinyl, better sound and you will get more respect. I would try and find a set of Techniks 1210's and a basic numark mixer. The 1210 was one of the first direct drive turntables and revolutionised the whole scene and as with most things the original was the best. There are lots of different 1210's (MK1, MK2, MK3 etc,) Just get the best one you can afford.

Mixtrack Pro is easily the best value controller out there, the DDJ-Ergo is also a consumer controller but is in my opinion overpriced for what you get. Look at the Traktor Kontrol S2 which has had a substantial price drop (till end of March 2012) so is currently excellent value.
