"It is painfully obvious to me that the right guy to be world champion is Lewis," said Ecclestone.

In fact, my main fear would be if he didn't win it.
Kimi Raikkonen barely talks to anyone and as such has done little for the sport, and as for Fernando Alonso, in his two years as world champion he has done nothing."

so bernie has more or less said that Lewis should win this year championship no matter what,
a case of what bernie wants bernie gets.

Do you think these comments will taint this year championship ?

Just read through the report and think that on the whole what he said is true. The only negative aspect to the report is what he said about Kimi and Alonso, but, in both cases he is correct. I don't think it will taint the championship, but i do think people like him should refrain from making comments about what may or may not happen. Lewis looks in great shape but he's not there yet. Anything can happen.

Lewis has been a blessing in disguise for Ecclestone, Alonso and Raikkonen are great drivers but nothing spectacular PR wise.
Fortunately for Bernie, Lewis is a mixed race, English man who is about to break some serious records. The perfect antidote to the dominating German in a time that F1 is heading off into territories where a, dare i say it, person of colour, especially as world champion will do nothing but emphasise the global 'F1 brand '
F1 to Bernie is a business, lets not forget eh?

Yes, these comments will and have already tainted the championship, as has the lack of any other objectivity with regards to hamilton ths year.

The media seem unable to criticise this guy, nor provide good objective journalism regarding events surrounding him.

Watching the media in england you would wonder if there are actually any more cars on the track and if it were not just hamilton!

and this coming from a person so patriotic he wants to see the British GP scrapped!!!!!!! god that bloke is a ....insert insult of your choice here.... What does he expect his world champions to do? travel all over the world and campaign for world peace like a beauty queen. i really think he is going senile.

rant over, Lewis has without a doubt rekindled interest in F1 with the British public, but if Kimi won, don't you think Finland would be just as ecstatic as us Brits if Lewis wins. Bernie's comments won't taint F1, just his reputation. he is already a small man in my eyes anyway

The best driver should win, not the driver with the best personality. F1 is an international sport and not all drivers speak English.
If Kimi won, fans around the world would be estatic.

Not really - you might be able to argue with his way of expressing things, but you can't argue with the sentiment. Lewis Hamilton totally deserves to win this World Championship, irrespective of any other drivers. Bernie's just putting his own spin on things to get the viewers in...

No I don't think so. The fact that a rookie driver came in and has taken the championship by storm will paper over a lot of the cracks. Having said that, I don't like Lewis Hamilton's attitude. His threat to quit F1 if they took action against him for his driving in the last Grand Prix was petulant. If it was me, I'd have to told him to go ahead and quit. Watch his ego get bigger over the coming years.

I think the FIA seem to be on Lewis' side and that's not surprising, since Bernie said he's the sport's 'saviour'.

Bernie didn't have to actually say it for this year's championship to be tainted, a couple different ways.

How can a senior director of ANY sport talk like that of any sportsmen?????.
F1 stinks....it is all prearranged.

Kimi Raikkonen barely talks...well,..i imagine he is paid to drive, not talk, isn't he?...and in any case, better to keep quiet than "speak out of your a.ss" as lewis has done all year.

Alonso has done nothing in his two years as world champion?,...you mean,...apart of winning the title twice?.

F1= English gangs ruled sport. Stinks.
