bad leadership and lazy people

In most cases, it's not a lack of food that causes a nation of people to starve. The world has enough food to go around. The cause is corruption in Government or those in authority, or war/hostilities in the area that stop the food & assistance from getting to the people who need it. Sure, drought & disease is the primary cause, but it's the people that refuse to allow others to help, that cause the enormous numbers of unnecessary deaths.

You can trace the root cause of starvation and death way back to the Old Testament. The Lord stated that all the nations that forget God will be turned into hell. Psalm 9:17 refers. Also the Bible tells us that the Lord causes nations to rise and He causes then to fall. I note that a lot of the poverty stricken countries are followers of "strange Gods" accordingly the Lord would hold the view that then their Gods should be the ones to send the rains and grow the crops and feed the people.

essentially it's because of lack of food. famine can be brought about by war, floods, pestilence or other natural calamities. maybe a place's supply route has been cut, too. corrupt governments are another thing. or maybe people are just lazy.
