I am on the look out for the tools/methods for the creation of a 3D virtual world game to run on a website.
Anyone has experience in this field (design as well as play)? Anyone knows what program(s) to use for the development?
I have used Autocad to design buildings and man made objects, then 3Ds Max 8 to modify and texture them. Tried several for avatars without success.
Any advice would be welcome. Good graphics and true interactivity essential for the final goal.

I already did the site with Adobe Atmosphere and had a few hundred members. Then Adobe discontinued the product.
I know it is hard to design, but I have over 30 years experience in programming, and in web designs since the web exists!
Semi-retired, I have the time... Check www.skytargets.com from Monday: I will add a free access to the game details.
I am looking for "partners" in this game that will, at a later date, require subscriptions.

My friend, if that was an easy thing to do, everyone would be doing it! But it's not. I have also been wanting to do this. Here are some problems.

1. There are too many good ones out there
2. It would be very hard to moderate and look after by your self
3. I dont think many ppl would work for free

My solution:
Start small before going big, earn yourself a name, thats what I am doing. I have been making my own flash games for a while, I'm thinking of sticking things onto newgrounds, getting rep. Also I have made fansites for various online worlds and gathered e-mail addresses (which is usefull for advertising your 3D world) Give it a try! :D

Hope that helped!
