This kind of question mystifies me. If you are against feminism, could you not at least make an effort to make an intelligent critcism? This is more on the lines of "your mother wears army boots." It certainly does nothing to bolster the image of those who have legitimate criticisms of the feminist movement. It only supports the notion that anti-feminist men are dullards and bullies. I'm impressed that some, like p27... are willing to try and give an intelligent response. But the women who say no, I'm a feminist and I'm not fat and ugley. Geez, why are you even giving creedence to the notion that physical appearance is somehow a credential of value as a person. I don't get it.

That's what feminism has been reduced to in the minds of many, including young women, the potential feminists of the next generation. How often have we heard young women make statements like "I believe in equal rights, but I'm not a feminist?" When asked if they want to be paid what they're worth in their chosen field, if they believe they have a right to choose whether or not to continue a pregnancy, or if they have the right to a just treatment in divorce, they invariably say "yes." As we know, all of those desires are encompassed in feminism. When that fact is explained to these young women, they shuffle, eyes downcast, and say "yes, but I know I'm not a feminist. I like men. I'm not radical. I shave my legs." They don't want to call themselves "feminist" for fear that others will look at them as if they are an unidentified slimy blob that just plopped onto the pavement.
The stereotypical feminist is seen as a shriveled-up old hag of a woman who hates men and despises children. She dresses in unflattering, baggy clothes, wears her hair in an unattractive short, mannish style, and doesn't shave her armpits. She doesn't bathe, and engages in questionable goddess worship that may involve the sacrifice of small animals or even children, preferably loud, obnoxious ones. If she isn't into that, she's an animal rights advocate who screams in pain every time she sees a woman wear a fur coat. She is labeled a lesbian in a derogatory manner, or she disdains heterosexual sex. On the other hand, she may hop from bed to bed to bed, and if she finds one day that she's pregnant, no big deal. She'll just get an abortion.
Where do these stereotypes comes from?
Feminism has always had a bad rap, which should be of no surprise to anyone because a social movement as powerful as feminism will be vehemently attacked by those most threatened by it. The preferred outcome, of course, being the destruction of the feminist movement. The Institute for Propaganda Analysis, founded in 1937, identified the following basic propaganda devices, all of which are used by anti-feminist groups, to both denigrate feminism and to make the anti-feminist, patriarchal agenda appear much more positive than it actually is. These methods are:
1. False Connections - Testimonial
2. False Connections - Transfer
3. Special Appeals - Band Wagon
4. Special Appeals - Fear
5. Special Appeals - Plain Folk
6. Word Games - Euphemisms
7. Word Games - Name Calling
8. Word Games - Glittering Generalities

Youve never seen one because they are (self proclaimed) feminists who never stick their heads into politics. Since they have no problems with men, they believe in equality because of their reason, and therefore are also for men´s rights too. The fat and ugly feminists bash them as mysogynists, and man-lovers. I think these feminists are not feminists, but humanists.

i think everyone does whatever they do for a reason and if they r a feminist then they must have a reason to be....for me though being a feminist is no priority...i think theres always two sides to a story and if something happens then theres no point in supporting the females only.....if the female gender is the one in the wrong then they are and the actual truth of the matter shld be supporting the truth and not whose right....i know it doesnt answer ur question but i had to get this outa my head...hve a gr8 day

i think of the only way you are able to desire to truly understand and understand your question is to undergo a intercourse replace to grow to be a woman. of direction it incredibly is assuming you will make an unsightly female and which you do unlike adult males. i'm optimistic some feminists reject adult males because of the fact the seen having intercourse with somebody such as you is an entire turn off.

Absolutely not. I have met many good-looking feminists who could get any guy they wanted. We don't care about how attractive we are to men — we care about getting their respect instead of their attention.

Have you personally met more than one person from another country, someone who is openly gay, someone who is an evangelical christian, someone who is an atheist? Do you believe that meeting one person of a group represents all people of that group? Do you believe meeting a few people of a group, represents all members of that group?
You're repeating stereotypes that are repeated every day in this forum. Your personal interactions don't represent a national or world view.
btw: I've met quite a few fat, ugly people that other people reject. I don't assume that they represent all people with their views. lol

Yes, just like guys who hate women because they're unable to get a girlfriend. However most women these days in the west are feminists with attitudes.

Before answering your question, allow me to pose one of my own - would you base your personal philosophy, character and value system on a group you joined that had as its sole criterion for admission the color of your hair? If your answer is "no," then you have the answer to your question. No one who is believed to be cognitively and psychosocially stable would advocate any views based upon aesthetics. I think I would be safe in assuming that your views on feminists and feminism as a whole is somewhat skewed. They are not manhaters or anti-men, but instead, from what I have read of their writings, they appear to advocate a position that puts forth the worth of women existing free of the imposed patriarchal paradigms that, according to them, permeates society. Your question seems to infer that if a man does not want a woman, she is of little worth, which is ridiculous. My advice to you would be to thoroughly investigate a particular stance, philosophy, etc. before making assumptions about its nature, you might actually learn something.
