There are so many, from every genre!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything from Star Wars and The Matrix, to the "Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" (don't know why that one popped into my head), to "It's a Wonderful LIfe", to "Forever Young", etc..., etc..., etc...,

There's a lot of great movies out there. Sometimes, it's not even the whole movie that's great. It could be the theme song of the movie, or just one scene in the movie that makes me stop and say, "Wow!!!" Ya know what I'm sayin'?

SKY CAPTAIN & THE WORLD OF TOMORROW (2004)

"As computer graphics are becoming more and more a part of movies, it only makes sense that eventually a film would come along that is completely computer animated with humans just inserted into the footage." (from second source)

In this fantastic film, the actors perform in a digital set. ONLY the actors are real! I would have loved to have seen this in the theater since it must have been amazing. I'd have loved to have seen all of the details in the settings.

When the dirigible docks at the top spire of the Empire State Building, it's such a remarkable vision of what was intended to be so long ago. It's simply magical.

The giant robots could have stepped out of a pulp fiction novel of the Thirties-Forties! They're like covers of those pulp magazines come to life, yet they're animation like nothing I've seen before or since.

They have flying vehicles that flap their wings, which is rather mindboggling when you see it! And, there are more giant robots with serpentine arms, a floating airfield, and even Shangri-La!

This might be one of the most overlooked SF/fantasy/adventure films made. I love how it is loyal to the time period~except for one line. That word/reference would NOT have been in a film of that time period! (it's the line when they've reached Tibet, a reference to the girl.)

I've watched this one many times and marvel over it each time. It even has a posthumous performance by Laurence Olivier! WOW!

I love watching for references to other films throughout, including "King Kong".

How sad that no one else has tried to do this again. The film doesn't have the CGI-saturated look of others, which seems so strange considering how it was made. I simply find it an "amazing, brilliant, powerful, innovative" movie!

P.S. I've been having problems with links, so I've removed http:// I figure that they can be copied and pasted. I'm not sure that is going on; after I click on a link to test it then return, the links no longer show up!

The most amazing movie that I've ever seen, hmmm. Let me think. I would have to say that it would have to be Sin City. I know many people didn't like it but I thought the directing, acting, storyline, effects and cast were all at the peak of their game. With the addition of 300, I am looking forward to more movies like them.

There are so many that I could put into this category; LOTR for finally bringing years of my imagination to life in astounding realism, V for Vendetta for challenging every preconceived notion I had about the world around me and my place in it, Finding Forester - if you haven't seen it, go see it and you'll understand, the same can be said of Remember the Titans and Radio, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein because my god, that was fantastic. There are many many more, but I don't think there's really enough room here to list all of them along with the reasons why.

Hotel Rwanda. It's based on true events between the Hutu and Tootsie tribes in Africa.

Also if you like war movies, Tora Tora Tora was made in the 70's and was an excellent depiction of the events of WWII

I know it sounds silly, but I'm gonna have to go with "My Fair Lady." Everything about seems so significant. From the lowly flower girl, to the boisterous, pompous millionaire. It just lets us know that in life no one is better than anyone else; it's more of what society has made us believe what "better" is.

"Grave of the Fireflies" (Hotaru no Haka). it is the only piece of media that has ever touched me so much emotionally that I was in a state of depression for a week after watching it.. no other movie has ever even gotten close to doing that to me.

"Life is Beautiful" is THE most perfect film ever made.

But only the Italian version, the dubbed English version is not as good.
