This is a spinoff to a question that I asked about a boss I had. I labeled her as a hippie which may have been inappropriate given the current time. Anyway a lady that is probably in her late 50's, has long straight hair, wears birkenstock sandals all the time and some earth type clothinng. Would all those be the characteristics of a former hippie?

No. Being a Hippie was more about lifestyle and attitude. The clothing was just an "extra."
Sounds like this lady just wants to be comfortable.
