I like how you say that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear....but there are countless stories of american civilians being taken into 'custody' for things they're innocent of.

every day, every hour, every minute, every second, every emails and calls - they actually have a programme that searches for key words and when you type or say it through electronics means, they will be able to track you down and search your entire recorded history.
Why? paranoid? safty? not only the US gov, but UK as well as other countries... some more technologically advanced than the other.

Unfortunately, all the time, especially with the advent of the Internet. It would be quite easily possible for the government spies to find out ANYTHING about a person if they use a personal computer. That's why I think computers are a blessing and a curse. It's only one more way for unknown people to find information on you. And I agree, it's sheer ignorance to believe if you don't have anything to *hide* you shouldn't care or worry about it. Why? Everything changed after 9/11. It's an Orwellian time now, people. "1984". This is the real deal. Keep your head down and don't call unwanted attention to yourself. If you think I am overdoing it here, you're wrong. I am a realist.

all the time ,internet is monitored from all sides ,the chats ,emails ,programs like this are open to analises ,cell phones .everything and all the time
google signed a contract with the cia 2 years ago so did the AOL and many others
to turn over all their files,

Well,I know that it's done...they did it to John Lennon and Yoko Ono during their "Give Peace a Chance" movement.They keep secret files on people that rock the boat,so to speak..ha ha.But I really don't know how often it's done...top secret,I guess.
