His movies are terribly done, but there is a weird sort of enjoyment you get out of watching them. Anyone else enjoy these camp classics?

I love love love Ed Wood films. They are classic. I have Plan 9 on my Tivo right now. He was really actually quite brilliant in an odd sort of way. If he had a sidekick like Divine was for John Waters, he would have been even more of a cult favorite.

"Plan 9 from Outer Space" is the only one of his films that has been played on TCM or other movie channels, but I've managed to see it many times. Strangely, he has a lot to say in that film about UFOs and the government, as if he was aware of the runaround the Air Force was giving people who reported sightings. He's actually making fun of the Air Force and the government but getting away with it by being so goofy!

One critic suggested that maybe he was crazy like the proverbial fox. He could say things that they wouldn't worry about.

Meanwhile, he gave us a quirky, daffy, goofy film with a bizarre cast.

I'd love to see his other works~at least some of them. The really nasty-tacky stuff he did toward the end of his career is best left unseen, at least by me.

There are other low-budget films that don't give us the fun that his do, so I'm certain he'll remain popular, with a strong following.

I must say that "Ed Wood" is one of my favorites for showing us the filmmaking process of someone definitely not backed by Hollywood, someone who had to wait many years before he could have film developed! Poor Ed... At least we remember his name when so many others remain obscure.

You could just offer your viewers a root canal instead.... Sorry. I couldn't resist. If you really want to see the two movies watch "Plan 9" first and let them end with "Ed Wood" it, at least, has something to take with you besides the bad taste in your mouth.

the idea of watching those camp movies is so much fun. you can chuckle over the ridiculousness of the film and the horrible effects.
it SOUNDS fun. unfortunately, the reality is quite another story. i've never been able to sit through an entire ed wood film. i laugh and have thought provoking discussions with my friends about them, but finishing the film is another story. lol

I am not really into Glen or Glenda.. (the whole "puppetmaster" aspect was idiotic.. "pull the strings".. ) .. however, there is one that I wish I could find.. Orgy of the Dead was hilarious..

and despite public opinion I don't think Plan 9 from outerspace was that much worse than other scifi of the time..I rather liked it.. if they had a slightly bigger budget it could have been great.
