They say they have to start contracting (natural or by being induced) w/in 24 hours of the water breaking, so I'd imagine the baby will be here w/in a day or two. However, she could progress slowly after the contractions start, so it's pretty hit and miss, but since the bag has ruptured, it'll be SOON enough to get a plane ticket. Congrats Uncle!
P.S. I'm assuming THEY are in Detroit?

That baby should deliver in the next 24 hours whether or not it's a natural birth or not. Here in Australia, generally women aren't allowed to be in labour for more than 24 hours, especially if their waters broke that long ago, as there is no fluid there to protect the baby, it's more prone to infection. I'd be buying that ticket. Congratulations, uncle

yes, it is definitely the time to get the ticket! It sounds like first time parent, it usually take average of 10-16 hours before the baby arrive. Yet, her water broke first, the doc or midwife might want to induced the labor just in case the complications may occur.

I would say yes. As I understand it, once the water breaks there is a limited amount of time (thinking no more than 48 hrs but maybe closer to 24 hrs) for the baby to be born on his/her own before the doctors will deliver by other means - due to the risk of infection....

Yeah it means the baby is on the way. Depending on which pregnancy it is, it can either go fast or slow. I'd get tickets soon. Odds are the baby will be here in the next 24 hours maybe more.

The membrane sac that surrounds the toddler has a tear in it and the a number of fluid leaks, down out of the cervix and vagina. no one is conscious the appropriate mechanism of why it breaks in circumstances of spontaneous exertions, yet there are some hormonal and enzyme adjustments that could commence the technique to make it extra favorable to happening.
