I'm 26 and I just realized that I need to go to College. I'm in my 2nd semester at a local Comm College. So Far Im doing good, but I just calculated my graduation date for my Associates Degree. I'm looking till 2012 for a 2 year degree ( Taking 9 Credit Hours/ Units per semester). Obviously Im not a full time student, cause I have a job. After Comm College I want to Transfer to a 4 year school and get my Bachelors. But I afraid Im gonna fail. Has anyone here been in college and graduated? And did it take long for you to get your degree? I just need to hear other peoples stories, so I can get motivated. Thanks

Well, one of my good friends actually didn't want to fall under statistics. She got pregnant in high school twice (10th and 12th). During 11th grade to 12th grade, she was a high schooler going to college and taking college classes. She graduated high school with Honors along with a certificate in Nursing Assistance AND got hired at a hospital right after she turned in her application. A year later, she graduated with an AA degree. She has 3 kids now, married to the same guy and is an RN. She's only 24. She also encouraged her hubby to go through college and now he has a Bachelor's degree. They're living quite a nice little life!

I use her as my motivation! Failure was not her option! If this doesn't motivate you, I don't know what would! Keep doing what you're doing and don't look at numbers too much! It all goes by really quickly, those years! Good luck!

If you are doing okay in community college, you should do okay in a 4-year school too. For the most part, I find that my community college transfer students, especially the older ones, do really well. They combine maturity with an appreciation for education that the average 18-year old just doesn't have.
