A common human failing. One way to describe it is the "entitlement syndrome" -- the delusion that one is entitled to whatever benefit(s) that accrue to oneself without regard to the consequences. If some of the consequences are unpleasant, then one blames everybody else. You see this not only in the owners of vehicles built like tanks, but also in CEOs who complain that people want higher wages while they themselves are entitled to the huge increases they get each year.

Actually I am more concerned about those people who don't complain. Fuel prices have almost tripled and the cost of living has gone down 25% on the average. Gas guzzler or no people need to fuel their cars. Some folks own the "gas guzzler" and can't afford to replace it. Hybrids are just too small and even the "family size" only seat 4 and have very little cargo room. I recently had to buy a car for work (I cater) and as much as I wanted to buy an alternative vehicle it just wasn't practicle. There is just no room in the back of a Hybrid with the batteries and electronics (the average loss is 4 sq ft). It may not be the best option but for many of us it is the only option. I complain about gas prices and my clients complain about fuel surcharges. What is a working girl to do? I need to have a big car to do my job and I have to pass a part of the fuel cost on to my customer - it is a vicious circle. Bottomline we should all complain about fuel costs especially when they are so unregulated.

Most people buy the vechile on the capacity of the passengers, plus baby seats plus toddler seats, that are mandatory by law not because they look cute in the car. These seats take up more room than a person just sitting in the seat. How do you expect to haul them? On the outside of the vechile?Idiots! This question makes me mad every time I see it.Who are you to judge?I am sure some people drive sport cars that are one seaters, lets take them off the road!Totally useless vechile,or how about race cars we can do without them surely? No one needs to apologize for what they choose to drive in a free country,or be mistreated either.Or how about all the miles and miles of lawns being mowed with riding mowers?Too lazy to push and walk? Lets get real where we are laying blame. There is no shortage but there is an elite few who are getting wealthy off the rest of the people when its not merited.War or no that is enough to save us for 50 years, how about that? so you see the type of vechile has little to do with it,but the wastes we come up with will.Think on that.rofl!

Good question.
I’m in the minority on this one — but if anything, I think gas should cost more, not less. I think it’s the only way to force people to change their oil consumption habits. What this country really needs is better mass transit and for people to realize they don’t need to drive their house everywhere.

No idea...I drive a little two door car. I only fill up once every 2 weeks at the most. It's very nice.
I ask my buddies who own big pickups about it and their answer is seriously "It's cool" or "It's manly"

umm...duh...because we have to pay a lot...
if you're implying "why don't they all just drive hybrids"
the answer is we don't want to. we like our big vehicles and we don't see why we should have to change. i drive a pickup, and i don't do it because it's manly or cool, i do it because i need to haul big things often, and because there are a lot of drunks in our town and i would def. win in a wreck, god forbid.

"Real" Americans will never, ever, drive small cars. Not even if we're down to the last drop of Arab oil.
