Because the digestive system has already done that-converting food to glucose-which the muscle cells CAN use.

They don't contain the correct acids to separate the food by its sugars, fats, starches, ect. It also might not be around the digestive tract like in your arms or feet.

They don't digest food but they do consume nutrients since their cells have a mitochondria that supplies them energy for mechanical motion.

Because they are not stomachs.....and as such contain no digestive acids (amongst many other things).
