Not successfully. Found myself wishing I hadn't spent the money just looking -- that's all i did anyway. It was stimulating just to look and anticipate -- that's how it pulls everyone in, I think. I'm sure there are those who it works for, but I'm guessing it's more of a "niche-type thing" for a small percentage. Not for the majority. But the dating services want you to think it's for EVERYBODY. Especially if you are LOOKING. That's the way they play it up.
It's the same psychology as is used in all those 70's Ronco commercials (the fore-father of today's infomercials.)
See how things keep going to extremes? You begin with a 30-second product commercial, between scenes of a B-grade weekend-only 70's movie on TBS (cable!-wow!), and it has developed into a 30-minute rant between 3:30 & 4:00am, when some of us are at our weakest and most vulnerable.
How many times were you awake at 3:00 in the morning and wanted to believe whatever the voice was telling you?

I never did a online dating service but many years ago I tried the news paper singles, I talked to the guy that seemed really nice and then he called me at 4:00 am and want me to listen to a song/poem he wrote, I wrote him off fast. I tried it again and met a nice guy and then his girlfriend called me and said she loved him and had his baby and begged me not to talk to him anymore, when he called me again I told him not to call again and when he wanted to know why I told him about his girlfriend calling me, he said he broke up with her, rather he was telling the truth or not I didn't want to get in the middle of that kind of drama. I quit after that...

Yes I have.
I went on three dates with guys I met online...

The first guy didn't look ANYTHING like the pic he posted on the internet, which was fine but he also had no personality.

The second guy turned out to be a weirdo stalker.

And the third guy wanted me to marry him so he could take me to Saudi Arabia....

I'll stick with meeting men the old fashioned way....at a bar :)

Yes I have I actually used Yahoo Personals. Nothing but people looking for a booty call so that ended fast.

I started doing Eharmony but they are expensive.

Yes. And I ended up marrying him and we're still happily married almost 3 years later. :)

Trust me, there were a few jerks before my hubby.
