Ya...I think you're right. I mean being a KINGS fan my hockey watching season would over by the end of the regular season and that would mean I couldn't watch or enjoy the rest of the season. Love the Kings but I love hockey too...so it is totally cool to find a team to support all the way to the SCUP.

I think it's fine if someone supports a team that is destined to perennially miss the playoffs, to pick a team to cheer on throughout the post season. Not necessarily the team that the "masses" follow, but one you happen to like, or have a soft spot for.
For instance, if the Wings were an annual cellar dweller, I would still back them 100%, but when it came to the playoffs I would cheer for the team I happened to like the best, in my case it would be Vancouver.
I haven't actually jumped any bandwagons in the past, I'm sure many would assume I did with the Wings, but I've lived in Michigan my whole life and grew up watching them, which happened to be during their start of greatness.
I also used to go for Michigan Tech in the NCAA because I lived an hour away from there, so they were local, but since coming to college at a different school I naturally started backing their team....So if you want to call that band wagoning thats fine, I don't see it as so.

I'd say nope. I'm a Jackets fan for life and I'm proud to say I've never wussed out and bought an Avs jersey.
But it's because I'm a Jackets fan that I have to do something different for the playoffs. I'll usually pick a team and support them until they win the Cup or get wiped out. If they get wiped out, I'll just root against whoever's playing any teams I hate. If I hate both teams I don't care who wins or loses. Last season I was pulling for the Sharks. After they lost I temporarily pulled for Anaheim, if only because they were playing the Wings (I hate 'em both but I hate the Wings slightly more). During the Final I pulled for Ottawa because like I said, I hate the Ducks and there's no way I can watch a Ducks game and be objective at the same time.

If the Phillies were sold to an owner who ran the team like the St. Louis Cardinals or the last professional team to have played in Philly - the Athletics - then one could technically call me a bandwagon fan. I don't recall jumping on any bandwagon. I either love a team or disown them.
I've always hung with the Flyers and Eagles, and I'm not into basketball. When either of those teams are eliminated, then I'll loosely attach myself to a team perhaps over a certain player (Green Bay/Favre) (Pens/Lemieux) or a coach (Indy/Dungy) (Rangers/Keenan) and sometimes because a team hasn't won a championship in a generation or more.

Depends on what you mean by "jumping on the bandwagon" I have two favorite teams; the Avs and Penguins, I love these teams, and I've been a fan of them for my entire hockey life. My other 3 favorite teams are teams I cheer for in the playoffs (if they make the playoffs and if the Avs and Pens lose out); they are the Bolts, Leafs, and Flyers. So if the Avs and Pens lose in the first round, but the Flyers and Bolts are still in it, I'm cheering for the Flyers and Bolts. If those two teams are eliminated, then I pick a team to cheer for based on players I like from that team. And when Ottawa and Anaheim play in the final, I don't give a rat's @ss what happens, because I hate both teams.

I will root for teams other than the Wings sometimes. I follow the playoffs all the way to the end and last year I wanted the Sens to win.
I did live near Boston a few years ago and I have to admit that I watched the Patriots and the Red Sox go all the way. I don't even like football or baseball but I got caught up in the partying.

I've been a Leaf fan forever but like the Habs since Gainey came back -still hoping they can pull through into the playoffs--just not tonight against the Leafs. I also like the Caps with Ovechkin. I liked Burkie in Vancouver but not so much in Annaheim. I guess that all makes me a band-wagon jumper.

Yep, in the past three Cup Finals. I've always cheered for the Canadian teams, even the Sens, because I'm a Canadian first and a Leafs fan second. All three Cups needs to come home. I would be surprised if the Travel Cup likes White Castle burgers more than Harveys burgers now....
LOL @ LITY From what I've been reading, it really sounds like he would too!!

I always support the Habs but I would only support another team if I actually like them (unless they're playing the Habs). During the playoffs, if the Habs don't make it, I just go for the Canadian team (besides the Leafs) or an original 6 team.

I have supported my Blue Jackets through... thin and thinner. I have been a fan since I found out we were getting a team. But I did pull for the Ducks last April, it was good to see the Niedermeyers and Teemu hoisting the cup.
