I can't find a hive, I don't know what kind of honeybee they are, I live in So. Calif in a beach community, pest control hasn't helped, kits at the hardware stores only catch other types of bees like wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets.

My grandfather was a bee-man (try calling one--under honey or bee in the yellow pages). He raised bees for their honey, and sold it to Sue Bee. This was in Washington State.

I'm sure a bee-man could find a hive. But in an emergency, bees get sleepy and return to their hives when there is smoke in the air. He had a set of bellows on top of some spanish moss and an ember from the fireplace. You could probably use a grill or something. Just some nice smoke and those little buggers go home.

If you watch, you'll see they have a "freeway"-- that is, they follow one another, and if you stay out of the way of that freeway, they'll leave you alone.

BTW, if you want them temporarily gone (aren't I just full of useless info?) take a saucer of honey and set it away from your door. Somewhere out of the way. They'll smell it and all the guys will be drawn to bring food to the hive.

But you really need a bee-man to get rid of them permanently.

Call Texas A&M University Department of Entymology. I bet they could recommend someone in your area.

Smear some honey on something and follow the trail of bees that WILL go to work collecting it and carrying it to their hive. That contact a local bee keeper and he will likely catch the hive for free just to have a new colony.

...you may have a hive in your attic or under the house.

...call a pest company and get some advice or price having it done.

...getting stung is worse than spending the $$.

...you could also get sued if someone else gets stung.
