The Bush administration and neo-conservatives have done more than any other administration to increase the power of the Executive branch. This has alienated a large portion of the true Conservatives, who are against any strengthening of federal power. The end result, is that with a low approval rating and poor prospects in 08, they may have strengthened the power for an incoming Democrat.
And please don't bother to answer if all you are gonna do is bash the Dems. I am neither Dem or Republican, and I don't support the platforms or poor candidates put up by either party.
This question is for those (admittedly very few) of you who are capable of understanding what is being asked. If all you know of politics is "Liberals suck..." than please refrain from answering, and in fact refrain from voting. YOU are what is hurting the conservative party...

See this is what I'm talking about. I'm not liberal, and am in fact afraid of what will happen if Hillary is put in power. However, I feel like the current actions of the administration is handing the keys to White House over on a silver platter, and strengthening their power when they get there...

Great Answers: President Bush has used "signing statements" hundreds of times to vitiate the meaning of statutes passed by Congress. In effect, Bush is vetoing the bills he signs into law by asserting unilateral authority as commander-in-chief to bypass or set aside the laws he signs. For example, Bush has asserted that he has the power to ignore the McCain amendment against torture, to ignore the law that requires a warrant to spy on Americans, to ignore the prohibition against indefinite detention without charges or trial, and to ignore the Geneva Conventions to which the US is signatory. All setting a prescedent which gives the Chief Executive the power to unilaterally interpret or disregard laws set down by congress. There is also the strengthening of executive power through the Patriot Act...

I tend to vote Republican (but not exclusively)... I have been very disillusioned by this administration's grab for more power and the first 6 years of a Congress that would not check this over-extension of executive privelage.... I am even more worried that Republicans allowed this to happen, it is naive and arrogant to think that a Republican is going to ALWAYS occupy the presidency. It was completely irresponsible to empower the executive branch to the extent that has occurred under the Bush administration. Shame on all of us for allowing this to happen.

I don't think that the Republicans will make Hillary the most powerful president ever (although, I believe that she will win, if she is nominated). I think that the Republicans have successfully handed over the president to ANYBODY that the democratic party presents the American public. Although there will be other candidates in other parties the American public is not ready to complete accept them as legitimate groups. So, In short, if things continue down the path that it is going, we will have an All Democratic Congress with a Democratic President in 2008.

The Republican Party is a marriage of convenience between wealthy business interests and the Christian Right. After 30 years of bliss, the marriage is blowing sky high. Business wants Rudy while the CRs have stated that they will not vote for him even if it means electing Hillary. That's 27% of the Republican vote. As a result, Hillary could recieve a huge mandate and the power that goes with it.

Yes, especially since the Republican ticket has no one standing against abortion this eliminating the Christian voter.
The Republicans, much like the makeup of the Congress and Senate, when they were in the majority did little or nothing and now they have removed the abortion plank which will cause a disruption for years to come.

The survival of the Republic and Western Democracy are at stake here. If Hillary wins, and it isn't a done deal yet, she will need all the help she can get with the common enemy the Democrats have been supporting these past four years.

Stop being so insulting - we have a much better grasp of the FACTS than you do.
BTW, after Nov. 2008, Hillary will just have to settle for being a socialist Senator since she will not win.
