I am 32 weeks pregnant. Yesterday, i started have contractions at 4:00 they were 12 minutes apart. By 11 pm last night they were 8 minutes apart, with the same intensity. I am still having contractions that are uncomfortable. But i can talk through them and i can walk and so forth. The doctor says i shouldnt come in until i can't talk through them. Is it possible i am in the first stages of labor, if so, then why is is lasting almost 2 days without progressing. Then other thing i am worried about is that this is my second baby, and i dropped 2 weeks ago noticably. I am having pressure but not unbearable. I am only 32 weeks could it be possible that i am further along than that, with the contractions and all, i mean? I thought with a second baby it was supposed to go faster than with the first. I was in labor for 5 days with my first. Should i trust the doctor and not get checked? I'm really worried that i might be in labor. But at the same time it doesnt feel like the first one did.

It could be Braxton-Hicks contractions.

If your water breaks, then get ready for labor. In the meantime, trust in your doctor....that's what you pay him for.

Relax, drink some herbal tea, ask your man to rub your back try not to become anxiety-ridden. That could complicate things.

Best of luck to you.

At 32 weeks, its good that things are not progressing. Braxton Hicks contractions can be uncomfortable; and prepare your body for delivery. Labor contractions continue to come closer together, get stronger and last longer. If this is not whats happening, you are not in labor. However, you are understably concerned with it being your second baby; and I would not wait to go to the hospital until you can't talk and walk through contractions. It is true that after a first baby, 2nd and subsequent usually come quicker, but not always. I agree that you should drink a glass of water and lay down on your left side and try to relax. Dehydration can cause contractions. You should go to the hospital when your contractions are 5 min. apart for an hour; or if your water breaks or anytime you feel something is not right.

Drink a large glass of water and lay on your left side for 30 minutes. Keep track of contractions (start of one to start of the next). If they come at steady intervals I would ignore what your doctor said and go to the hospital to get checked out. If you are truly in labor, they will probably want to stop it since you are only 32 weeks. I wouldn't take any chances, better to get checked out and make sure everything is okay then deliver your baby at home. Good luck!

go to the hospital and get checked. It could be preterm labor and if it is they can give you a shot to stop it. I have had that 2 times so far. I'm 35 weeks but had my last child at 35 weeks, so we are being careful. They can always try to stop it early but once the baby is coming out, it's too late. GO get checked. and walking/talking thru them, that's crazy. why would you wait that long. It might be too late by then and the baby could come on the way to the hospital.

I had painful braxton hicks contractions from 16 weeks on that did not dilate my cervix at all. GO IN if you are worried, that is what they are there for. I went in at least 4 times with each of my two pregnancies with braxton hicks contractions which were regular and consistent. Braxton hicks were a LOT worse with my second by the way, some I could not even talk through!!
