Isnt kolzig the capitals starter?

Because they're playing a back-to-back. It's common league practice to put the back-up against the crappier team and the starter against the better team instead of wearing out the starter.

Hanlon hopes to play Johnson more and Kolzig less this year, after all, Kolzig is almost as old as Hanlon!
In Kolzig's 2nd career game, he was blown out by Hanlon and the Red Wings 8-1

I watched the game on Channel 25 tonight and they did say that Kolzig was being rested for tomorrow nights game.
The caps looked good tonight!!!!

yeah i think Hanlon wants Olie rested for tomorrow's home opener, and hey you can't argue with the results 3-1 win
