well my old school was some dinky little christian school where everybody was like brazilian and god obsessed, so it was really gay. So like every year on Oct. 31, i would tell them i am going out for halloween, and they would go, "Oh you're going to hell, halloween is evil, its the devil's birthday!" Are they like right about that, or do they just like to piss me off?

Celebrating Halloween is not a salvation issue, so, what they said was wrong. I am a Christian, and if we go according to God's Word ONLY, and not people's opinions, He does not love anyone less for partaking in this day. BUT, it does have occult roots, and they continue this day, which bring forth much evil.
I dont think they are trying to make you mad, but, some people have a distorted and opininated view of God rather than just looking to His Word for the truth. Or, maybe, some Christians feel they are better than others and have the right to criticize and judge and direct.
I'm not religious but I have a very close personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I am a Christian. Halloween used to be my favorite holiday, but in time, I did a lot of research and study on the occult, and this holiday came up a lot (part of what turned me into a Christian, actually).
I wrote a BLOG about it, which can give you a lot of info on the history and why it is an event no one should partake in. Even if one isnt a Christian, one can see why this isn't something to celebrate.
Let me know what you think.

Is Halloween Bad

I was looking up on that as well. In my opinion (and from all the research I've done) I think Halloween is a matter of how you look at it. Halloween does have satanic roots to it, and it is a day for witches and other absurd people to do their evil things. Halloween can be bad if you make it bad, such as if you worship the devil, practice evil things, or dress up as a monster, devil, ghost, etc. Halloween can good if you make it good by staying on the safe side of Halloween such as not dressing up as grotesque characters, trick-or-treating in your neighborhood or other place you know well, and by simply not doing anything that may seem evil. Hope this advice helps.

Halloween's roots are in mocking evil - that is why we dress up to confuse evil on a night it is supposed to have once been powerful. By celebrating youth and enjoying sweets we embrace the true gifts of the harvest. Don't let anyone tell you it is "Evil" or you will suffer any "punishment" it is just a day to be silly-have fun and show evil that it has no power where love and laughter dwell.

Happy Halloween!!

Christmas used to be no longer celebrated as Christmas, it used to be Winter Solstice. It is the longest night time of the 12 months, and the shortest day. It is the birthday of the Sun King, whilst the times start to develop longer. This season has been related in pagan occasions with Gods and heros births, Oedipus, Therseus, Hercules, Perseus, Jason, Dionysus, Appollo, Mithra, Horus, or even Arthur. They all possessed a story beginning, loss of life and resurection, just about that of Jesus, and to make concerns worse, a few pre-dated the Christian saviour. This could also be why John Calvin and different leaders of the reformation hated it, why the Puritans refused to acknowlage it, and it used to be even made unlawful in Boston. Yes, the Church and guy made up our minds to make December twenty fifth, the day The saviour, The "Light" of the arena used to be born, (although there's no proof of this), The roman catholic fathers made up our minds this in 320 C.E. To take cognizance clear of Pagan celebrations. Easter!! In the roman catholic church, there are 2 vacations that get combined up with the vernal equinox, (which incidentally, is a time whilst each day and night time are at identical lengths, however mild earnings dominace over the darkish of night time.) The first is a constant date of March twenty fifth within the historic liturgical calendar, it's known as the Feast of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. When Gabriel introduced to her that she used to be pregnant, Why this date? Well determine 9 months from this date and it finally ends up december 25!! This date used to be additionally picked by means of the church. The different excursion being Easter, The resurection of Jesus. The identify Easter comes from the Teutonic Lunar Goddess Ostre, who symbols have been the bunny, (fertility) and the egg (cosmic image for production) Her excursion used to be held at the vernal equinox complete moon. The church, does no longer have fun complete moons, although they do calculate by means of them, so that they positioned Easter at the subsequent Sunday AFTER an entire moon, thgis is why it movements round such a lot. By the best way, the church used to be so adamant approximately NOT incorperating the Goddess symbols, that they additional calculated that if Easter fell on an entire moon, it used to be held the Sunday subsequent. Are they evil? no. These are occasions of celibration!! So revel in, and allow the christians do the identical.

I go to a Christian school too and we aren't allowed to celebrate Halloween there either, but that's just because of its origin. You make Halloween what you want it to be- if you want to go worship Satan and offer children as sacrifice (my friend told me they do that somewhere) then that is what Halloween means to you. I take it as a time to dress up and be with friends. And I don't think that being "God obsessed" is a bad thing, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't mock us....

Halloween is the best! I don't see why it's so evil.

I have a bon-fire in alittle fire pit in my back yard and drink spiced cider! I also dress up and hand out candy to the kids that come in where I work, have for years.

Why take away all the fun and make believe from them, it's not doing anything wrong and these days all activities for kids parents go with them or they are old enough their going to find some kind of mischief to get into Halloween or not.

It is like most holidays that have gone away from their religious roots. Halloween is a pagan holiday - It has been modernized and many church groups even have halloween celebrations. Think about Christmas - how many atheists do you know who celebrate it under a different meaning. As long as you arent devil worshiping I think it is okay to have fun!

It's got nothing to do with the devil nor is it evil. Where do people get these ideas? My family were devoutly religious and we always got to celebrate Halloween. So, those people are wrong. Halloween may have pagan origins but so do the traditions associated with Christmas and Easter because the church co-opted local traditions in order to ease the transition for converting local people from their earth-based faiths into Christianity.

So go out and have fun. It's perfectly ok to celebrate.
