2 = ABC
3 = DEF
4 = GHI
5 = JKL
6 = MNO
7 = PRS
8 = TUV
9 = WXY

As for Q and Z, they're often not used. Sometimes, they're placed on "0," and sometimes you have Q with 7 and Z with 9.

So, for your example, 1-800-RICK, though it could never be a real number, would be 1-800-7425. Real numbers would be longer than that, but you get the idea.

The number for Hooked on Phonics, a way to teach children to read, was 1-800-ABCDEFG. That's 1-800-2223334.

This method isn't only used with 1-800 numbers, it's also used often in just about any local area code, when a business is trying to find an easy phone number for people to remember.

The numbers are on the phone with the alphabet. Look at the buttons. You'll see it.
