Why do fans at college football games storm the field after an upset? Why do football players go crazy when they get a sack? Why do basketball players jump up and down after they hit a 3-pointer in the closing few minutes?

Seriously, these guys love the game so much. They've been dreaming about being in the majors since they were like 5. So when they win its like pure joy and excitement. And all you can come up with is it looks weird.

It's called emotions. Sports are all about them. Fans included.
Baseball is a tedious game and any little thing can turn things around.
Try hitting a 90 mph baseball for a game winning RBI. You'd know then.

Its traditional. And its probably the only time they get to show their emotions. In baseball people watch closely for "animated" players, baseball is supposed to be a classy sport, you show good sportsmanship and you do that by not showboating like they do in football.

its how you celebrate as a team.....you know win as a team loose as a team? do you play sports i mean its not just basetball , we do it in hockey, volleyball, basketball what ever you win you just have an urge to mall over your team mates:) only way to go out in style at the end of a big win!
