It's gotta be between the beatles and pink floyd (as far as recognition). Then you've got the Stones and stuff. Cult following band is probably Nirvana and my favorite bands are Blink 182, Die Toten Hosen and The Offspring.
Oh, and Linkin Park definately belongs in this discussion (I forgot them, but they have been steady for so long now)!
Are you kidding me? Some of these bands have been around for like 5 years. Does anyone seriously believe that Maroon 5 is the best band of all time? There have probably been oompa bands with just as much kick. The Feeling is good, and they could be the next beatles (i love their sound, and they're from england...lol), and Kaiser Chefs had one hit song that was good the first five times I heard it...now I bleed from the ears...

Led Zepplin hands down. I don't know of any other band that has influence rock and roll as much as Zepplin. As you listen to there first three albums it is hard to believe that it was produced in the late 60s. They were definitely ahead of their time.
