The most cliche arguments I've heard this year are 'racism' and 'physical attraction'.
I don't know if you've heard of the arguments, but a significantly higher percentage of criminals who are african american/hispanic have received the death penalty. (This is when you say that it's not the death penalty that's racist, but the people. Can't you almost hear that "everyone's a little bit racist song" song? You just have to prove that racism cannot be diminished from a society, and if you save more lives (I'm assuming you're working towards preservation of life), then it doesn't matter.)
People who are physically attractive receive the death penalty less often.
Also, remember that this argument doesn't really have a brightline... and there's no way to eliminated it, so the judge shouldn't look to it as a voter.
You're going to hit a lot of deterrence, too... just as you would in any round. I seem to think that it's a valid argument, though many disagree. It's hard to approve/disprove, and many judges don't like it, so stay away from it just in case.

the biggest argument against the death penalty anywhere is that too often our prosecutors get the wrong man - the Innocence Project has produced DNA evidence which has proved over a hundred people innocent who were on death row and one "expert" on that was found to have made up results to suit the prosecution without ever having performed the test in hundreds of cases.
the second biggest argument is that is actually costs more to execute a person than it does to keep them in prison for the rest of their lives. If a person commits a crime horrendous enough to make us think of a death penalty, let's think instead of a prison with no visitation, no recreation, television or other necessities somewhere remote - an island in Alaska perhaps in order to keep the rest us us safe from them. Were i a criminal I think I would rather die perhaps than to be locked up like that and were I considering a crime of that magnitude, knowing that I could end up there would be more a deterrent than knowing someone else was put to death for a similar crime.

Stock is not another word for cliche. They have two very different meanings. A stock answer is one that is always used for a particular question while a cliche is an answer that fits a stereotype.
What was the question, again?

Could you repeat the question ?
Is "LD" text message code for "Long Distance" ?
Okay ... 'nuffa that. Here in "Taxes" we desperately need a death penalty to satisfy our continuous blood lust. Some states have snow-capped mountains, cool, temperate climates, and even vast spaces of greenery and places where you can ("frolic") out in nature without getting stuck, stung, or bitten by something.
But here, there is no escape from all that ... It's just hot, humid, and dangerous .... and sometimes we just want to hurt somebody. So we take it out on the criminals.
