Angel was a spinoff of the Buffy show. The Angel character orignally Buffy's boyfriend on Buffy. When that story line played through, he was a fan favorite and his fan base warranted his own story - hence the birth of Angel. Both were created by the same guy, Joss Whedon, and were great shows with a ton of character crossover and several storyline crossovers too.

Ok huge fan of the show, Angel was on Buffy for the first 3 seasons. Angel and Buffy were in love most of the time. Buffy was a vampire slayer and Angel a vampire kinda a conflict. Angel was good though. Angel was cursed and could not have a moment of complete happiness, hence the sex with Buffy so when things got too intense with them and they realized they wouldn't be able to be together without sleeping together Angel left and went to LA. That is where the spin-off came from he had his own show with Cordelia and Wesley and then other cast members followed. The best part of Angel was that alot of the time it was stand alone from Buffy but at major moments of the Buffy series they incorporated the Angel series. It worked very well. I loved them both have them all on DVD

Angel is a spinoff of Buffy..Buffy was filmed first and everything and it was really successful, so they made the series Angel, with Angel as the lead character. Characters like Spike and Buffy are also in Angel, but there are many new characters as well which aren't in Buffy. To find out more info, go to http://www.imdb.com and type in 'Buffy' and then 'Angel' =] hope this helped!!

Angel was Buffy's boyfriend even though he was a vampire. Angel then developed his own show when his relationship with Buffy ended. Buffy also guested on Angel's show from time to time also.

Angel is a spin-off of BtVS. Originally, Angel was a recurring character who served as a love interest for Buffy, and when that storyline ran its course, the character was so popular that Joss Whedon decided to create a spin-off around him and two other recurring characters, Wesley and Cordelia.
