Im only a teen, in high school, but I sleep like an average of 4 hours a night. It makes it very hard to focus in on school work and to stay awake during classes. I'm usually exhausted until about noon, then I wake up and I am wide awake until around 12am. When I finally go to bed, my mind races nonstop and I toss and turn for hours. By the time I fall asleep I have to get up again in a few hours. Any suggestions or techniques to help me sleep better ??

Also, I get headaches almost every day, they get bad enough that I just stop going out with friends, or esle im miserable the whole time. I ask to go see the doctor but I can't seem to convince my parents that I need too, they say it's all in my mind. I hate feeling tired every day.

Four hours is not good at all. There are techniques but I would be concerned that something more is going on with this amount of sleep. Talk to your doctor. He may want a psychiatrist to see you. The reason why would be that certain medications are really in their field and they have the best knowledge about them.

You may consider reading or listening to soothing music. Warm milk helps some also. If all else fails see your doctor. A lack of sleep will wreak havoc on your immune system.
