What is the main difference between an extraction process and an absorption process?

In an extraction process, it is often a solvent which will selectivelly dissolve more of one component than another. So the mixture is being extracted.

In an absorption, a solid is being used to absorb one of the liquid components into the solid

1. In extraction feed is always liquid while in absorption feed can be liquid or gas

2. In extraction solvent is always liquid while in absorption third component is solid or liq

3. Solvent used in extraction can or cannot be pure with some component of feed.. but third component used in absorption is free of any component of feed
