That song lacks the sincerity in tone to have any real emotional signifigance. Songs that have more sincere and soulful tones, in addition to emotionally inclined lyrics, are much easier to attach to emotionally. These are hard to find in the rap, hip-hop, and hard-rock/heavy-medal genres, where emphasis is more placed on entertainment than on emtional expression. They are more often found in country, old school R&B, contemporary soul R&B (i.e. Brian McKnight, Anthony Hamilton), Soft Rock, and some Hard Rock style ballads (e.g. Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do").
Try listening to this song and review the lyrics at the below address. Associate the lyrics with a place you have been and can relate with, or with a place you know someone else has been. Once that happens, the emotional significance will be more accessible.

Sometimes I do - it depends entirely on the artist.
I used to feel Barbra Streisand's music 30 years ago.
The other side of the spectrum is James Blunt. I cant feel anything he sings. ("You're beautiful" ? I dont think so!)
Now: with regard to the song you directed us to: If I were a young person living in a dysfunctional family where the parents are fighting, I'd probably think this song is profoundly emotional. As an older adult, it just sounds like more whiny young-people's "I Hate Everyone" music.

I did not check out your link, but absolutely do I feel the emotion of a song. That is what has kept music around for almost as long as humans. The artist bares their soul and through their music you are able to connect with them and their story. Music is a very strong form of communication.

the song "After All " by John Sekada and Cher was my wedding song, it has so much meaning to my hubby and i. When they played it for our first dance together i was hysterical crying and my hubby started crying too and it was a chain reaction our guest were all dabbing at their eyes.
