Me and my ex broke up a couple weeks ago mostly due to not being able to see each other. We agreed to be friends for now with this possibly working later. He wants me to still hang out with him and his friends bc I did get close to some of them and he sayshe wants me in his life. However he texts me everyday. I just feel like for a couple weeks I need time to get over this a little bit. Is that asking too much? He says he really cares about me and thats nice but I need time to heal a little or im just gonna take my frustration out on him

Picking up the pieces after a break up can be hard, especially when one has a totally different way of dealing with it. I'm sure he may be disppointed if you need to distance yourself. However, he needs to understand that switching gears from lovers to friends takes some readjustment. Let him know that it's nothing against him or his friends, but you need time to readjust and that may mean taking a break for yourself to sort things out. He may get on the defensive or make you feel guilty. Just let him know that you want to make this work, but for that to be a reality you need some time for yourself. Good luck!

Tell him just what you told us. That you want to stay friends but need time... In fact, just copy your question and text it to him.
