Duder, Clockwork orange IS a great movie. It firmly typecast Malcom McDowell as a villain, and the book was originally an extraopolation of the mods vs rockers phenomenon in England in the early 60's. The mods and the rockers were two groups of kids who would occaisionally get together at British seaside resorts and beat the crap out of each other for no reason at all. Alex and his friends are cast as futureshock mods form hell. From there the author,Anthony Burgess moves into turning alex into a pawn of the state, and powers beyond his control, a big sick fish in v ery small pond. Well worth watching. rent this movie. You will enjoy it.
